Seminole Coal
Most of the story can be read in the
R&R article. Here is an update. In January 1999, the last Seminole
coal train was run through the AN. I do not know much about the legalities,
but because the Barge company, the transloading facilities and AN thought
the contract had been broken, they fought back in court. I do not know
the results of the court proceedings at this time. In the mean time, the
Seminole Coal train now runs straight from the mines in Kentucky and Illinois
to the Palatka Fl power plant through Folkston, Ga.
Port St Joe, Fl; April 1998.
A few months before being dumped, the coal train makes another run
to Chattahoochee.
Gretna, Fl; February 1997.
A few months after getting the SD70MACs, CSX decided to try them out
in Florida on the SEMX coal train.
Folkston, GA; March 1999.
The new route of Seminole coal is through Folkston GA.
