Savannah, Ga; February 1999.
It is amazing that by this date, there are still some Southern paintschemes
out there. This SW7 with 2 stacks and its upper row of louvers on the hood
is a rare find.
El Dorado, Ar; December 1998.
The winter storm has finally gone away, but has left a sheet of ice
on everything, including on the tool shed.Ouachita 63 is an SW9 built in
1953.
Baldwin, Fl; January 1999.
The SW 9, with the missing row of upper louvers and 6 louvers in the
battery box are more common even in the late nineties. This one is a mystery
with a limited paintscheme and no railroad company marking. However, a
similar engine marked 140 was spotted at the Fitzgerald Railcar Service
plant along with the NW2 in October 2000.
Chattahoochee (River Junction), Fl; July 1999.
After the demise of the paper mill in Port St Joe and the loss of the
coal contract, AN divested from some of their engines. The latest victim
is this SW9 going to Michigan to work for CYDZ. Similar SW9s were purchased
from FEC in the same year to operate in De Funiak Springs.
Waycross, Ga; February 1999.
Before the merger, this Conrail unit which appears to be a SW 9 with
its 6 louvers on its battery box, is found in the hands of a small private
shop.
Savannah, Ga; February 1999.
This SW9 handles all the duties in Savannah for the Georgia Central.
