Southbound freight looks more like a 747 taking off than a train on the verge of stalling on the ramp of the bridge over the Mississippi River.


Tallulah, La; December 1998.
A winter storm completly froze northern Louisiana and southern Arkansas, a couple of days before Christmas. On Christmas day, trains are stopped for the break. This westbound freight has SD40X KCS 700, one of only 4 ever built.


Gibsland, La; December 1998.
A trio of GP38 including 2 with no dynamic brakes, is pulling a long freight toward Mississippi the day after the Christmas break.
