HLCX 742 SD40-2 on Q602 exhibit its SOO heritage.
Folkston, Ga; August 1999.
HLCX 4300 is one of 23 GP40X ever built, 1 of 4 ex SP (3 are left;
one of the 4 was wrecked)
with the Bloomberg trucks.The rare bird is taking Q605 through Folkston
mid morning in August 1999.
It was close to midnight when it went through Tallahassee. It pays
to be at the right place at the right time!

On a crisp winter morning, Q106 goes through town with HLCX 4409 and
HLCX 4415 still in their Amtrak schemes.

It is the Florida Funnel again that procudes some originality in the
CSX consist of a Southbound freight with
HLCX 5054, an SD40 in an SD45 shell ex MKI except the gold stripe has
been painted white!
Waycross, Ga; February 1999.
HLCX 6076 SD40M-3 pulling Q213 Autorack train, features the elegant
Helms paintscheme.

HLCX 6100, another SD40M-3, now sold to TFM, is part of the consist
pulling a northbound freight out of Waycross which also has B23-7 in the
Family Lines scheme without the yellow back. The Helms engine shows its
heritage as well, with the "Woodward CLC Equipped" marking. Woodward was
on the original deal with Helms (see Extra 2200 South Issue 93 p 17;
HELM 3110 with similar marking). This was my first Helms engine sighting
back then, way before the leasing frenzy started.

HLCX 6213, SD40-2, ex DM&E is about to hit Valley Junction a few
miles away from Hearne. Leased engines have been fairly rare on UP mainlines.

HLCX 6225, SD40-2, ex QNS&L, is helping NS deal with the post-Conrail
merger crunch on a NB freight.

HLCX 6514, still in its SD45 shell is pulling freight Q602 out of the
yard.

HLCX 7188, SD40-2 in its Burlington Northern scheme are the newest
additions.

HLCX 7701 GP60 ex TFM along with a CSX engine, was added at the head
of the consist of a coal train.
