An Illusion of Passion

written by Lilly

on July 14th 1993

I am for you
Only you
I take your face
Between my hands
And pull you
Closer to me
I kiss your lips
Hard and passionate
You tear away
From my grip
And stare into
My innocent eyes
What did I do wrong?
You give me that
Look, as if to say
"You know what
You did wrong!"
I am hurt by
Your dagger eyes
I cajole, I clown,
To try and make
You smile, laugh
You resist me
My feminine wiles
Are no match for
Your cold heart
I try to hold you
My hands are
Too hot, you flinch
I try to love you
My love is warm & bright
Like the sun
You once basked
In the glory
Of my love
You once loved
Me for me
Now you twist
Yourself up
Tangled, as if in
A prison of vines
Your heart hasn't
A drop of love left
Your arms are
Cold as steel
Your kisses are
Papery and dry
What have I done
To make you
Hate me so?
I once revelled
In your love
I once yearned
For your kisses
Where did they go?
I once had everything
Now all I'm left with
Is an illusion of passion
