Christians in the hands of a Jealous God - Present Age of Apostasy Chapter 2

Christians in the hands of a Jealous God

This Present Age of Apostasy
Chapter 2

II Thessalonians 2:1-12

1          Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him,

2          That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand.

3          Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away (Apostasy, Defection from the truth; Divorce; Forsake) first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;

4          Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.

5            Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things?

6          And now ye know what withholdeth that he might be revealed in his time.

7          For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way.

8          And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming:

9          Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,

10         And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.

11         And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:

12         That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

     As disturbing as it is to hear that this present Church age is in the midst of "Apostasy", very few people seem to realize that this is the day that has been long prophesied about. WHAT? (1 Tim 4:1-2; 2 Tim 3:1-9; 2 Tim 4:3-4; 2 Peter:2:1-3)  Some might think to say that it is for another time this "Apostasy" stuff, it's for some other day, far, far away, "we're in midst of the greatest revival ever, multitudes are getting saved!"  Yes, there are multitudes coming to Jesus, but even more so than that, multitudes are coming to an IMPOSTER, another JESUS, another SPIRIT, another GOSPEL (2 Corinthians 11:3) being preached under the umbrella of Christianity by preachers and teachers who have erred from "The Faith!" (1 Tim 6:10)  The massive communication of the Gospel being spread throughout the land, through Radio, Television, Tapes, C.D’s, & the Internet is phenomenal!   There are multitudes of churches for every city, even in one town!  Awkwardly enough, though we have 24 hrs of “Christian Radio & TV,” we have a severe, devastating depreciation of true holiness (Eph 4:24), godliness (1 Tim 6:5) and the fear of the Lord (Prov 3:7)!  The call and demand Christ made for people to be saved has been reduced to a "repeat after me" initiation. (see 100% COMMITTED!).

Falling Away

    Associating the phrase "FALLING AWAY" with Christians converting to another religion, turning their backs on Jesus, may be one way to look at it.  But what they're really FALLING AWAY from is not from Church. We got more people in Church than ever before!  What they're FALLING AWAY from is "THE TRUTH!"  Even as they sit in Church!  FALLING AWAY from the Truth of the Gospel than sets people free indeed (John 8:36).  FALLING AWAY from "The Faith" that was once delivered unto the saints (Jude 3). And FALLING AWAY from the power of His Grace unto a form of godliness (2 Tim 3:5).

·        And judgment is turned away backward, and justice standeth afar off: for truth is fallen in the street, and equity (Fairness/Justice) cannot enter.  Yea, truth faileth; and he that departeth from evil maketh himself a prey: and the LORD saw it, and it displeased him that there was no judgment Isa 59:14-15 . (Judge righteous judgment)

·        The righteous perisheth, and no man layeth it to heart: and merciful men are taken away, none considering that the righteous is taken away from the evil to come. Isa 57:1 (Get Better?)

·         Many pastors have destroyed my vineyard, they have trodden my portion under foot, they have made my pleasant portion a desolate wilderness.  They have made it desolate, and being desolate it mourneth unto me (Compare Isa 59:4); the whole land is made desolate, because no man layeth it to heart.  Jer 12:10-11

·        Run ye to and fro through the streets of Jerusalem, and see now, and know, and seek in the broad places thereof, if ye can find a man, if there be any that executeth judgment, that seeketh the truth; and I will pardon it.  And though they say, The LORD liveth; surely they swear falsely.  O LORD, are not thine eyes upon the truth? thou hast stricken them, but they have not grieved; thou hast consumed them, but they have refused to receive correction: they have made their faces harder than a rock; they have refused to return.  Jer 5:1-3

A Famine

   God said that there would be a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the Lord (Amos 8:11).  A time will come in which they will not endure sound doctrine, but heap to themselves teachers having itching ears.  A time when they would be lovers of pleasures more than God.   A time such as the world has never seen.  "A famine," not of Laodicean preachers or ear ticklers.  But "a famine" of hearing the words of the Lord.  So if any man hath ears to hear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the Churches!  In the "Dark Ages" Martin Luther sparked the "Protestant Reformation" because he heard the Cry of the Spirit, "The just shall live by Faith." If there was ever a time and a need for reformation, it is now in the 21st Century!  He that hath ears to hear, let him hear The Sound of The Trumpet, "… come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty?"  (2 Cor 6:17-18)  Can you hear, "If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do?" (Ps 11:3)  Remove not the ancient landmark?  (Prov 22:28)  Who's on the Lord's side? Who will be liken unto the children of Issachar, which were men that had understanding of the times, to know what Israel ought to do? (1 Chr 12:32)

The Creed of The Rising One World Religion (Ecc 1:9)

Romans 1:18-32

18        For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;

19            Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them.

20        For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:

21            Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.

22            Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,

23        And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things.

24            Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves:

25        Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.

26        For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:

27        And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.

28        And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;

29        Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers,

30            Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,

31        Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful:

32        Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.

     Christian brother/sister, let us examine ourselves whether we be in "The Faith" this side of eternity!  IF we're in error, Repent, and Christ will give us light!  Though a gross darkness lies upon those who are religious, faint not at heart, neither be weary in well doing, for all these things must come to pass.  Lift up your head our redemption draws nigh, Maranatha! Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the LORD is risen upon thee….And the Gentiles shall come to thy light, and kings to the brightness of thy rising.  …in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation among whom you shine as lights in the world, holding forth the Word of Life!
