"Real" Revelation
Knowledge?
Hearing the title, I don't know what jumps to your mind first; maybe "Adam, before the fall, flying into outer-space;" or "You are god!" Maybe "the wealth of the wicked is laid up for the Church" or "you can create your own world." The title of this study may have incited you into thinking I was going to share with you something deeeeeeep or extra-Biblical! It seems to capture people's attention, even to the point, if what the preacher is saying isn't Biblical at all, gullible Christians still eat it up!!! In a generation where it has been said that we have great Bible teachers, it's surprising that so many people are tossed to and fro by every wind of doctrine; to come up with the next nugget or revelation seems to be the hottest selling and most attention grabbing. "Real Revelation Knowledge," some use that term, for in doing so, makes you think they're up there with God. Like the woman that wrote the book, "a Divine Revelation of Hell?" Wait a minute, I thought Jesus gave us a divine revelation of Hell? Was He incomplete? Does this woman have more insight on hell than Jesus cared to share with us? I have no get rich schemes, the best of both worlds living, type of hype to give you! "Real Revelation Knowledge" is what is already revealed in the Word of God. Jesus warned us of false teachers using similar terms and called them, "the depths of satan" (Rev2:24), False teachers would say, "Real Revelation Knowledge." Paul warned of people who were "puffed up" (Col 2:28), False Prophets would say, "Real Revelation Knowledge." Professing themselves to be wise,(wolves would say, "Real Revelation Knowledge") they became fools (Rom 1:21-22). (like the Bible says)
Another quick example of what I'm talking about concerning "Real Revelation Knowledge" would be like Jesus' teaching on prosperity: Jesus taught, "Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you." (Matt 6:31-33) Jesus' teaching on prosperity was plain and simple, but that isn't good enough for a lot of people; we want to know the deep meaning behind the plain sense. So today, we have 1,000,000,000 tapes & Videos of preachers who have more to say on "prosperity" than our Lord did!!!! People with a 6th grade education can figure out something's wrong with that, Many of these "New Revelation" and "Real Revelation Knowledge" teachings are prime examples of the spirit of error that is at work in the children of disobedience, the lukewarm, the double minded, and the deceived.
"Real"
Revelation Knowledge
The Apostle Paul explains some Real Revelation Knowledge, and it doesn't include "gold coming out your mouth, thy money cometh" or any kind of most of the junk we hear today coming from Word of Faith pulpits; he says,
"For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven
against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in
unrighteousness;" Rom 1:15-18
Never let us forget, "True Gospel preaching" will always reveal the truth concerning the condition of man, "For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart." (Heb 4:12) Beware of ANY preacher who focuses on the here and now and what we possess as a gauge of godliness! Satan and his ministers will always show you the present, the kingdoms of this world and the glories of them! (Matt 4; Lk 4) Christ will show you that which is eternal, for what can a man give in exchange for his soul or what shall it profit a man if he gains the whole world and yet loses his own soul? Hell swallows up the rich and poor alike. Hell doesn't care if you drive a Rolls or a Yugo, it's ever expanding and never full!!! One thing is for sure, there's coming a day when you will be carried away, if it's to hell, then it'll be to a place in which you will never return! Eternal damnation goes on and on never ending. The rich man that went to hell in Luke chapter 16, lifted up his eyes being in torments, if he could have been permitted to come back to this side, he would have had a ten part series of how you can get a bigger car and a bigger house because you're the King's kids. NO! He no doubt would have warned men every where in every place, "Don't go to that place, it's REAL, it's eternal, there's no peace, no rest day nor night, flee from the wrath of God to come, cleanse your hands ye sinners and purify your hearts ye doubled minded, come out from among them, don't partake of their sins, don't receive of their plagues, judgment is coming, there is a day coming, we're going to give an account, we're going to stand before a Holy God!"
REAL Revelation Knowledge will speak, "Seeing then
that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be
in all holy conversation and godliness, Looking for and hasting unto the coming
of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and
the elements shall melt with fervent heat?" (2 Pet 3:11-12) If we
can't even get the eternal perspective right in our preaching of today, that it
is appointed unto men once to die and after this the judgment, rather than the
earthly, sensual and devilish, then there's really no sense studying
"Faith, faith, FAITH, FaItH, fAiTh, FaiTH, htiaf, faith for this faith for that." REAL Revelation Knowledge will speak, "By
faith Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place which he should after
receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he went out, not knowing whither he
went. By faith he sojourned in the land
of promise, as in a strange country, dwelling in tabernacles with Isaac and
Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise:
For he looked for a city which hath foundations, whose builder and maker
is God." (Heb 11:8-10) "These all died in faith, not having
received the promises, but having seen them afar off, and were persuaded of
them, and embraced them, and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on
the earth. For they that say such
things declare plainly that they seek a country. And truly, if they had been mindful of that country from whence
they came out, they might have had opportunity to have returned. But now they desire a better country, that
is, an heavenly: wherefore God is not ashamed to be called their God: for he
hath prepared for them a city." (Heb
11:13-16) REAL Revelation Knowledge
will speak of "righteousness, temperance, and judgment
to come" (Acts 24:24-25) REAL Revelation Knowledge will "reprove
the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:" (John 16:8)
A little cliché to
remember when you hear new doctrines, deeper revelations, etc…
IF it's new, it ain't true! And
IF it's true, it ain't new!!
We "… are built
upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being
the chief corner stone"
-Eph 2:20
