The Sabbath Day

To my friend Eric and other Seventh-Day Adventist,

"…where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty" (2 Cor 3:17)

Should "Christians" be bound to worship God on Saturdays instead of Sundays?  Are multitudes of Churches breaking the 4th Commandment for not observing Saturday as God's Holy day of rest?  Can a Sunday observer go to Heaven???

In studying this subject, I would like to point out beforehand, "True worship and true worshippers" are not bound by a particular time, day or place to worship God in spirit and in truth for it is written,

"The woman saith unto him (Jesus), Sir, I perceive that thou art a prophet.  Our fathers worshipped in this mountain; and ye say, that in Jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship.  Jesus saith unto her, Woman, believe me, the hour cometh, when ye shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father.  Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews.  But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.  God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth." (John 4:19-24)

ANY day and EVERY day is Holy unto the Lord, not just the Sabbath!  In fact, God desires to have a relationship with us, to hear and talk with us and us with Him Sunday through Friday as well as Saturday. If you're married, trying pulling that one over on your spouse, one hour of one day a week to fellowship with one another????

The 4th Commandment LEFT OUT?

"Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy." (Exodus 20:8)

With the importance of the 4th Commandment as stressed by the Seventh-Day Adventist, why is it not mentioned, verified or ratified as part with the New Covenant???

"And remember that thou wast a servant in the land of Egypt, and that the LORD thy God brought thee out thence through a mighty hand and by a stretched out arm: therefore the LORD thy God command-ed thee to keep the sabbath day." Deut 5:15

The 4th Commandment was the only one of the ten that was a cere-monial, not a moral law.  The only purpose of it was to commemo-rate the deliverance from Egyptian bondage when Israel had No Rest! As it is written, "And remember that thou wast a servant in the land of Egypt, and that the LORD thy God brought thee out thence through a mighty hand and by a stretched out arm: therefore the LORD thy God commanded thee to keep the sabbath day." (Deut 5:15)  The argument for Saturday is when "Christians" ought to worship God parallel's what happened in the early Church when "…certain men which came down from Judaea taught the brethren, and said, Except ye be circumcised after the manner of Moses, ye cannot be saved." (Acts 15:1)  This was heresy, and cause confusion among new believers who were ignorant of the righteousness of God by faith. Circumcision, like remembering the Sabbath day was a token of the Old Covenant with the Nation of Israel, therefore neither Jesus or the Apostles made mention of these two things when God was cutting a New Covenant with whosoever will of Jews & Gentiles!  The Apostles concluded…

"Forasmuch as we have heard, that certain which went out from us have troubled you with words, subverting your souls, saying, Ye must be circumcised, and keep the law: to whom we gave no such commandment:  It seemed good unto us, being assembled with one accord, to send chosen men unto you with our beloved Barnabas and Paul,  Men that have hazarded their lives for the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.  We have sent therefore Judas and Silas, who shall also tell you the same things by mouth.  For it seemed good to the Holy Ghost, and to us, to lay upon you no greater burden than these necessary things;  That ye abstain from meats offered to idols, and from blood, and from things strangled, and from fornication: from which if ye keep yourselves, ye shall do well. Fare ye well."  (Acts 15:24-29)

The 4th Commandment is left out of the New Covenant because the promise of Gentiles being grafted in wasn't given to Moses but to Abraham over 400 years BEFORE the "Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy" was ever instituted!!!!

"And this I say, that the covenant, that was confirmed before of God in Christ, the law, which was four hundred and thirty years after, cannot disannul, that it should make the promise of none effect.  For if the inheritance be of the law, it is no more of promise: but God gave it to Abraham by promise."  (Gal 3:17-18)

Finally, IF "Saturday" is to be exalted above all other days and so holy that we must observe "Saturday" as the Sabbath, then why are there NO references of Adam, Abel, Enoch, Noah, Abraham, Isaac or Jacob observing "Seventh-Day Adventist" theology regarding the keeping of the Sabbath???  Friend, Saturday-keeping is irregardless when it comes down to the fact that "And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire." (Rev 20:15)  This is another subject that is erroneously taught by "Seventh-Day Adventist,"  Hell and The Lake of Fire   Hell   The Truth About Hell

"But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death." (Rev 21:8)
