ave you ever heard the phrase, "I'm just an ole sinner saved by grace"? It seems like when you talk with Christians and they use that phrase, that they are still holding on to the "Old man/ Old nature". If you have been saved by the glorious grace of God, you were a sinner, for ALL have sinned and come short of the glory of God, BUT NOW we are the sons of God according to 1 John 3:2
Let's examine the Scriptures to see whether "we remain a sinner saved by grace" OR whether we have been born-again, translated from darkness to light and "WERE a sinner" Amen, been "saved by grace" Amen, "BUT NOW WE ARE THE SONS OF GOD"!
Galatians 4:1-7
1 Now I say, That the heir, as long as he is a child, differeth nothing from a servant, though he be lord of all;
2 But is under tutors and governors until the time appointed of the father.
3 Even so we, when we were children, were in bondage under the elements of the world:
4 But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law,
5 To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons.
6 And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father.
7 Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.
Romans 8:11-17
11 But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.
12 Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh.
13 For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.
14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.
15 For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.
16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:
17 And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.
I John 3:1-8
1 Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.
2 Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.
3 And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.
4 Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.
5 And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin.
6 Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him.
7 Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.
8 He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might (leave us an ole sinner saved by grace! NO) destroy the works of the devil.
Beloved, It's a powerful and mighty position to be in the Family of God, to carry His name, to know God as your Father! All the power, wealth, fame and fortune of being related to someone like Bill Gates CANNOT be compared with the birthright you hold as being Born from above!!! But IF your are still "just an ole sinner", you're of your father the devil and his lusts you will do! But IF you're a child of God, you're a NEW creature!!!
