This Study is to encourage those who are holding on to "The Faith." Reprove those who are mishandling "The Faith." To recover the ancient landmarks, preserve the truth and to declare "This is the way, walk ye in it!" It is without respect of persons, denominations, or creeds! And will testify to what the Spirit is saying to the Church in this final hour!

It has been said, if you had 3 minutes to tell a person who doesn’t know Jesus something before they died, what would you tell them? I hope we would tell them about how Jesus Christ came into the world to save sinners! His precious Blood is sinless blood, and it was shed for us on a hill called Calvary! He was delivered for our offences and He was raised for our justification! And that God "hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom he hath ordained; whereof he hath given assurance unto all men, in that he hath raised him from the dead." Acts 17:31

1 Simon Peter, a servant [This right here is really what distinguishes early Christians from modern Christians. Peter was a servant, not too many people today desire to live the life Jesus has called us to. We want all the blessings of heaven, but nobody really wants to deny themselves, take up their cross daily and follow Jesus. (Luke 9:23) "Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?" Romans 6:16] and an apostle of Jesus Christ, to them that have obtained [HAVE OBTAINED! These people OBTAINED/POSSESSED salvation] like precious faith with us [Peter understood that these people were genuine Born-Again believers. Like precious faith WITH US means this epistle is written to saved people, Christians] through the righteousness of God and our Saviour Jesus Christ:

2 Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord,

3 According as his divine power hath given unto us [US, Christians] all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue [God has equipped us with ALL things that pertain to life and godliness and has called us to glory and virtue. There’s no reason or excuse why any disciple of Jesus should be weak, anemic and defeated. God has placed ALL spiritual resources to our behalf to live in victory. We have an upward calling to grow up into the fullness of the measure of the stature of Jesus and be no more children tossed to and fro by every wind of doctrine (Ephesians 4:13-14) Compare 1 Timothy 6:11-12]:

4 Whereby are given unto us [Christians] exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped [These people believed in Jesus, received God’s gift of salvation, and were SAVED people! HAVING ESCAPED!] the corruption that is in the world through lust.[Compare: Genesis 3:1-7; 1 John 2:15-17; 2 Corinthians 11:3-4]

8 For if ["IF" !!!CONDITION!!! Whenever you see "IF" there’s always a "CONDITION" Any covenant is between 2 parties, even in the New Covenant; you still have a part to keep (John 14:15; 15:10) and to fulfill (Luke 9:23). God never took away nor promised to ever take away the condition of your obedience in bringing in the New Covenant!] these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful [Compare John 15:1-8] in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

9 But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old [OLD SINS, PAST SINS!!! NOT past, present & future sins; Peter DID NOT teach that once you received Jesus, any sin you commit in the future has already been forgiven you!! Compare 1John 1:9] sins.

10 Wherefore the rather, brethren [Again Peter acknowledges these people as BELIEVER’s, brethren] , give diligence [Sit back, sit on the couch and eat potato chips? NO! Give DILIGENCE! STRIVE ye (Luke 13:24) Compare: Matt 10:22; 24:13; Mark 13:13; Rev 2:7; 2:17; 2:26; 3:5; 3:12; 3:21; 21:7] to make your calling and election sure: [Work out your own salvation with fear and trembling (Your half of the covenant submitting, obeying, surrender, yielding, denying yourself and following Jesus keeping His commandments "John 14:15,15:10; 1 John 5:3", For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure . Phillipians 2:12-13] for if [CONDITION, IF you do, IF you don’t. There’s 2 side to every covenant! Compare Deuteronomy 28 & Leviticus 26] ye do these things, ye shall never fall:

11 For so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

12 Wherefore I will not be negligent to put you always in remembrance of these things, though ye know them, [Compare Jude 3-5, note the urgency to put THESE things in REMEMBRANCE! It is because MANY false teachers and preachers are risen on the scene to pervert the "True Grace Gospel", assuring God’s people just like the serpent did, that IF they commit sin they will SURELY NOT bust hell wide open! Even Jesus was concerned about what kind of doctrine was being taught in His last instructions to the Churches. Compare Revelation 2:6; 2:9; 2:14-15; 2:20-24; 3:4; 3:9; 3:17] and be established in the present truth.

13 Yea, I think it meet, as long as I am in this tabernacle, to stir you up by putting you in remembrance;

15 Moreover I will endeavour that ye may be able after my decease to have these things always in remembrance. [Note: verse 12,13 15; Peter’s sermons wasn’t like those that we hear of today! His were PREPARING us for the bridegroom who IS COMING QUICKLY (Rev 1:3)! They were NOT sermons of rocking us to sleep, how to get the best of both worlds, third heaven visions or encounters with angels, or any other extra-Biblical experiences! Peter’s last words were that of warnings of false teachers, doctrine, soberness and the soon coming of the Lord Jesus!]

16 For we have not followed cunningly devised fables [This Gospel IS NOT smooth talking, flesh appealing, get rich quick gospels], when we made known unto you the power [True Gospel teaching doesn’t come IN WORD ONLY, but in power and in the Holy Ghost and much assurance. 1 Thessalonians 1:5 Jesus wasn’t just anointed to preach! And "The Gospel" isn’t just preaching only; but in addition: binding up the broken hearted, clothing the naked, feeding the poor, healing the sick, casting out devils, raising the dead, etc] and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of his majesty.

17 For he received from God the Father honour and glory, when there came such a voice to him from the excellent glory, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased [May God be able to say that of us].

19 We have also a more sure word of prophecy [NOT dreams, visions, or experiences; a more sure WORD of prophecy IS THE ALREADY ESTABLISHED written, revealed word of God; NOT extra-Biblical experiences]; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place [Compare Phillipians 2:15-16], until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:

20 Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation [Scripture, the promises of God ARE FOR ALL, and to profit ALL! They are not for a few elite! Preachers only. Example: Baptizing people in water to repentance IS NOT secluded for Baptists only, that’s their part; and Acts chapter 2, that over there is for Pentecostals. Many heresies have emerged because Christians negligently heed to the Scripture of rightly dividing the word of truth. (2 Timothy 2:15) NO doctrine can be built upon 1 single Scripture standing alone, such as 1 Corinthians 13:10, many prominent teachers say that now that we have the Bible we have NO need for the gifts of the Spirit! First of all, the text and context DOES NOT even say that!!! And second, IT DOES NOT AGREE WITH THE ENTIRETY OF SCRIPTURE, NOT EVEN TWO OR THREE VERSES!!!! However it agrees Scriptural and logically with that when Jesus comes back there will be no need for the things we do in part as the ambassadors of Christ occupying till He comes: When He comes: prophecies will be fulfilled. There shall be no need for tongues for ALL shall know of the Lord. And knowledge, the veil will have been taken away! Etc].

21 For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy [NOT by drunks around a camp fire, but HOLY men] men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.

1 But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you [These FALSE prophets & teachers SHALL BE AMONG YOU!!! They’re NOT the Jehovah’s Witnesses, Mormon, Muslims, etc, etc; It’s a lot closer to home, even though we are correct in saying "They are false teachers". Peter said that these false teachers shall be "AMONG YOU". Jesus said, "Wolves in SHEEP"S CLOTHING" Not in Mormon clothing, Muslim clothing, etc. BUT SHEEP’S CLOTHING! To deceive "the sheep", the devil has to look like "sheep." That’s why he appears as an angel of LIGHT!!! 2 Cor 11:13-15], who privily [Secretly, cunningly, with slick twisting of words like as the serpent beguiling Eve in the garden of Eden! Compare 2 Corinthians 11:3-4; 13-15 God’s doctrine (teaching) was IF you break the commandment, "YE SHALL SURELY DIE"; devil’s doctrine (teaching) was, "Hath God said", "ye shall SURELY NOT DIE"] shall bring in [Bring IN where? In the camp of True Gospel Teaching/Doctrine] damnable heresies, even denying the Lord [Denying the Lord is not the only damnable heresy! They will go as far as even denying the Lord that bought them; but denying the Lord is just one of the many damnable heresies] that bought them [THAT BOUGHT THEM! They WERE SAVED, but now they apostatized, backslid, drawing back to perdition! Compare Hebrews 10:26-31 "…wherewith he WAS SANCTIFIED"], and bring upon themselves swift destruction.

2 And many [Not a hand full nor a certain sect, but multitudes shall be decieved, it will be the popular, mainstream flow of what’s happening IN Christianity today] shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of [The attitude of Christians today is: I’m Ok, you’re Ok we’ve believed in Jesus so everything’s alright. The fact of the matter is that throughout the Bible, when false doctrine was being taught causing the believers to sin against God. God always had to raise up prophets to woo His people back into right standing with Him. After the blessings, having been made right with Him, they would go a whoring from His commandments; it has happened all throughout history and is still happening today. As it is written, "They hate him that rebuketh in the gate, and they abhor him that speaketh uprightly." (Amos 5:10) God in His love and mercy longs to woo them back as a mother hen would gather her own under her wings, but they would not!!(Matthew 23:37) Likewise, as the false prophets in Jeremiah’s day seduced the children of the covenant, the true word of God through Jeremiah was hated because God’s people "love to have it so" (Jeremiah 5:31) They heaped to themselves teachers having itching ears (2 Timothy 4:3) "And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness." II Thessalonians 2:11-12 Compare Deuteronomy 13:1-4 These FALSE prophets ARE AMONG US and they will speak evil of the way of truth and teach against it with a passion: "hath God said" "surely you WILL NOT die if you sin & rebel in this age of grace" BUT WHAT DID GOD SAY (Romans 3:4) "THOU SHALL SURELY DIE" And when God declared that, it was before any covenant was stricken! And guess what, with ALL the covenants that God established with man, the fact still remains and is true, "The soul that sinneth it shall surely die" Ezekiel 18:4,20)].

3 And through covetousness [They allure (v18) through the lusts of the flesh, the lusts of the eyes and the pride of life. They appeal to the lusts in man with messages such as "the gospel of GREED" "PEACE unto them that despise the Lord and "NEW Revelations", etc, etc] shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you [How many times have ministries put Jesus out on the open market like some kind of prostitute to make another dollar for their ministry! Preachers marketing videos saying, "God told me, God showed me, God revealed to me this important information and if you send a love offering to our ministry $30, $40, $50 & $100!!! We’ll give you this for free. In other words, IF you don’t have the money you can’t find out what God has said. Compare Matthew 10:8; 21:12-13; Dt 29:29]: whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their damnation slumbereth not.

4 For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment [God is NO RESPECTER OF PERSONS;

5 And spared not the old world, but saved Noah the eighth person, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly [The flood of the wrath of God came upon "the world of THE UNGODLY" not upon the righteous! "…HE RESERVETH HIS WRATH FOR HIS ENENMIES"!!! Nahum 1:2 "For the rod of the wicked shall not rest upon the lot of the righteous; lest the righteous put forth their hands unto iniquity" Psalm 125:3 Compare Genesis 18:23-25 "… shall not the judge of all the earth do right?];

6 And turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrha into ashes condemned them with an overthrow [Judgment on sinning], making them an ensample unto those that after should live ungodly [God established a memorial for ALL future generations to fear!!! This is the reward for SIN, for unrighteousness (v13), be not partakers with them (Compare Ephesians 5:1-6), for the wages of sin IS death, but the gift of God IS eternal life through Jesus Christ our LORD. (Romans 6:23) Through Jesus Christ OUR LORD, we bow to Him, we serve Him, we follow Him, we keep His commandments, we don’t live our lives unto ourselves for we are BOUGHT with aprice and we are not our own!!! (1 Corinthians 6:19-20)];

7 And delivered just Lot [Deliverance for the righteous, not the wicked.], vexed with the filthy conversation of the wicked:

8 (For that righteous man dwelling among them, in seeing and hearing, vexed his righteous soul from day to day with their unlawful deeds;)

9 The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations [Deliverance for the righteous], and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished [Wrath for the wicked]:

13 And shall receive the reward of unrighteousness, as they that count it pleasure to riot in the day time. Spots they are and blemishes, sporting themselves [Arrogant, flamboyant preachers, claiming bold faith] with their own deceivings [Compare 2 Timothy 3:12-13]while they feast with you [WITH YOU!!! Again, they are not the Jehovah’s Witnesses, Mormons, Muslims, etc. THEY FEAST WITH YOU.];

14 Having eyes full of adultery, and that cannot cease from sin; beguiling unstable souls: an heart they have exercised with covetous practices [This is all they know, this is all they find time to talk about: money, money, money! They exercise all their sermons lacing them covetous practices, geared to sooth & appease the flesh, half-truths if any trues at all! No mention of sin separating you from God, hell, holiness or Holy Ghost baptism with fire.]; cursed children:

15 Which have forsaken the right way [These people WERE SAVED! They were on the right way, but THEY HAVE FORSAKEN it!!! There’s NOT two roads, one road leading to heaven and another road leading to hell; THERE"S ONLY ONE ROAD!!! The same road that leads to heaven IS the same one that leads to hell!!! IF you repent it means to do an about face, a 180 degree TURN! You were headed to hell, but a 180 degree turn in the other direction leads you to heaven!], and are gone astray [Astray, they miss their destination, they veer off course and will destine somewhere else, they will make shipwreck their faith (1 Timothy 1:19; 1 Corinthians 9:27) and perish with the wicked. (Ephesians 5:1-8) Brethren, Take heed to the lighthouse of the Word!] following the way of Balaam the son of Bosor, who loved the wages of unrighteousness;

16 But was rebuked for his iniquity: the dumb ass speaking with man's voice forbad the madness of the prophet.

17 These are wells without water [Compare 2 Corinthians 11:15 Appearing righteous, appearing to have truth, but when you see the end of all that their preaching (Hebrews 13:7) it doesn’t quench a hungry righteous man’s thirst! What they preach is earthly, sensual, and devilish. James 3:15-16.] , clouds that are carried with a tempest [They preach everything but what the spirit says to the Church! How we need preachers like the children of Issachar, which were men that had understanding of the times, to know what Israel ought to do. 1 Chronicles 12:32]; to whom the mist of darkness is reserved for ever [Their portion is to be damned with the wicked.].

18 For when they speak great swelling words of vanity, they allure [Beguile, entice; bait the hook for the kill] through the lusts of the flesh, through much wantonness [Filthiness, lasciviousness] , those that were clean escaped [Their target is to cause those who are clean to be unclean, and have escaped, to bring them back into bondage, to fall from their own stedfastness, to suffer the same damnation they face, THAT is their masters agenda whom they serve, and they love to prey on the weak and unstable.] from them who live in error.

19 While they promise them liberty [Compare Genesis 3:1-7 Satan promised Adam and Eve that their eyes would be opened, and they were opened alright, but not to what he promised! He’s a liar, and the father of it! John 8:44] , they themselves are the servants of corruption: for of whom a man is overcome, of the same is he brought in bondage [Compare Romans 6:16; 2 Timothy 2:25-26].

20 For if after they have escaped [IF AFTER what? IF AFTER THEY HAVE ESCAPED!!! These people were SAVED at one point in time! Compare Luke 8:8-15] the pollutions of the world through the knowledge [Saving knowledge]of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein ["Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man: But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed."

James 1:13-14], and overcome [This is where damnation settles in, "…Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death. Do not err, my beloved brethren." James 1:15-16], the latter end is worse with them than the beginning.

21 For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known it, to turn [God will honor your will! The power of choice is still in your court, you still have the will to choose or refuse Jesus just as you did before you accepted or rejected Him! They turned.] from the holy commandment delivered unto them.

22 But it is happened unto them according to the true proverb, The dog is turned to his own vomit again; and the sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mire.

1 This second epistle, beloved, I now write unto you; in both which I stir up your pure minds by way of remembrance:

3 Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts [Their agendas are to build dynasties for the here and now! "That day of reckoning, judgment and coming of Jesus is for another time, in the distant future!" And even if they don’t declare it in those words, their actions, works and sermons declare it LOUDLY!]

4 And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation [Compare Isaiah 5:18-19; Matthew 24:42-51].

11 Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness [Peter’s message wasn’t for us to chase riches and fame, spending all of our time and energy seeking the things that the gentiles seek after! Compare 1 Timothy 6:3-21; Matthew 6:24-34],

12 Looking for and hasting [To speed, urge on] unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?

13 Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.

14 Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent [Exercise yourself unto godliness not covetous practices. Compare Romans 6:11-18; Matthew 10:22; 24:13; Mark 13:13; Revelation 2:7; 2:17; 2:26; 3:5; 3:12; 3:21; 21:7] that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless.

15 And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you;

17 Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before, beware lest ye also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own stedfastness [Peter DID NOT teach, support or advocate the devil’s doctrine of "ye shall surely not die" a.k.a. "once saved, always saved" a.k.a "once a son, always a son" a.k.a. "once in grace, always in grace" He understood and taught that "Ye therefore, beloved…beware lest ye also…" CAN BE "led away with the error of the wicked," and "fall from your own stedfastness"]
