She turned off the facet and stepped out of the shower. With her pale white hand she took the light blue towel off the rack and began drying off her hair. Her face rose and she looked at her reflection in the mirror. What she saw was too painful to even put into voice. For a few moments she just stared at her face in the mirror.
She lifted her hand up and touched her cheek. A small sting of pain shot through her face. The dark colored bruise on her cheek still hurt. She ignored the pulsating pain as she commenced the observation of her face. Just above her left eyebrow was the nasty scar from being hit with the metal candlestick holder. The cut on her lip from being punched with the hand that wears the garnet ring. The stitches on her nose from being hit with the beer bottle. Not to mention the dark bruise on her cheek from the punches.
Her friends warned her over and over not to go through with it. Her family told her time and again that she could do so much better in life. Did she listen to those who cared about her? Did she listen to those her loved her and wished the best for her? No, and that's why she is in this horrible situation that she shouldn't be in.
So what did she so? She went out and married him anyway. "Everything will be fine, he's a great guy!", she would tell people. "He and I are exceedingly happy!", she'd tell others. Oh how she was so wrong. As soon as he got the chance her beat her. Everytime she did something wrong he'd punish her with his fist. Day after day she became more frightened of him. It was getting worse all the time.
Tonight was the worst of all. He came home from work angry. That was what sparked the yelling from him. When she tried to reassure him, he began to get violent. After his terrible beating he stormed out of the house. So she took a shower to clean herself up. She thought long and hard about what happened. A tear rolled down her bruised cheek. Did she really deserve that? She didn't recall asking for that when she asked for love.
