One Last Start Of The Engine

He came around the corner heading into four
Driving hard as ever, blocking even more
Up ahead the victor- followed by the son
Had no idea that a legends work was done

Like a true champion he gave so they could get
A feeling he always gave us, one we can't forget
We are all stunned into silence at the intimidator's fall
A bit of all of us were with him as he slammed into that wall

There was more to Dale than driving the white and black
More than we could see as he burned around the track
Family, giving, and integrity were his living code
He left spending it all, leaving nothing owed

He loved what he was doing, knew the dangers well
Left behind memories- stories - generations will tell
He lived as he died, doing it his way to the end
To you number three one last start of the engine we send
