Rest in Peace

There's a lot of sorrow
A lot of pain inside
Ever since I got the news...
All I've done is cry.
I know I'm not alone in this
Dale Earnhardt was the man.
For many years we've cheered him on
Now we no longer can.
My daddy started the tradition
many years ago
We'd load up in the station wagon
In May - October we would go.
I've been a diehard Earnhardt fan
For 19 years I guess.
And loved every minute watching
Now God's put me to the test.
I lost my dad 3 years ago
It's never been the same.
But I continued going...
And pretended there's no change.
Nothing was the same there
With my daddy gone...
But my brothers kept persisting
And I continued Nascars' song.
I felt I had to go now
I was Dales' biggest fan.
But now our Dale's in Heaven
So I just don't think I can.
Dale's in Heaven now with them -
Davey, Alan, Adam too,
And I know my dad's in turn one
Just like he used to do.
Daddy watch the races now
And please look down at me...
Tell Dale I miss him and I love him...
And God bless the number 3.
