Morning After

"Morning After"
I woke up this morning
with thoughts of last night;
The music still plays in my heart.
The dancing, the waltzes,
The flowers and moonlight,
Oh, why did they have to depart?

I woke up this morning
with a feeling of sadness,
The hours had gone by so fast.
Had I been dreaming?
Or had it been real?
And why did the music not last?

I woke up this morning,
My eyes dimmed by sunlight,
I squinted and looked at the door,
I greatly lamented
The man who invented
The morning after the night before!
