My Butterfly Friend

My Butterfly Friend

I was working in my garden
Believing I was alone
Until a beautiful butterfly
Quickly made himself known
I believed he wanted me to hurry
And get out of his home.

Admiring his pretty colors
I reached out my hand
When he landed on my finger
I felt good and appreciated
The trust he had placed in me
It was then our friendship began.

My belief I was an intruder
The butterfly proved to me was wrong
Because when he landed on my finger
He taught me an important lesson
Things happen you can't foretell
Like his willingness to share his home.
