You stop me in the street
to ask something of me
You're just curious , wanted to know
who is my GG
I pause and look at you
you've put my mind to task
for no one ever bothered
no one ever asked
My GG is my grandmother
a woman with a heart of gold
loving arms to wrap
around me , they enfold
A smile as warm as sunshine
her eyes so blue and bright
her hair a silky gray
her teeth a beautiful white
But still you do persist
for you want to know
why I speak so highly
why I love her so.
My childhood was shaky
no one person was to blame
but GG came along
and I never was the same.
She taught me how to set
a table so divine
Along with Mother , she guided
to manners oh so fine
When I was feeling down
and couldn't go to Mother
GG was right there to fill her shoes
there really was not other
Despite my many faults
mistakes along the way , I made.
GG said she loved me
it was I she wouldn't trade.
So you ask me who my GG is
someone who did her part
GG is my grandmother
who I'll always keep close to my heart .
