FROM THE M/M STRIKERS

 "We are doing okay. (the 3rd of February) The Major John Palmer is punishing us who are on the strike by shutting our outer solid steel doors. By this he is cutting off our air circulation. In response to this some of us have elected to stop drinking water. The warden came around - Joseph Thompson, and told us we are "getting nothing". I guess we are going to run up a high medical bill for DOC.  In this group here, we have unity and the support we've been getting is helping our strength. Sincerely Ricardo"

"dear.... This is day four and I'm so sick. Muscles are cramping, headache, dizzyness and I feel bad.. I hope this hungerstrike don't go into weeks. IF it does I am willing to go all the way... lots of love..."

"Friday I started a Hunger Strike.  I don't know how much I will be writing.  I have no idea how this is going to affect me.  I'm going to be refusing medical intervention."

"I'll enclose a notice I wrote up on the conditions; if you can get people in your group to call or write, we need as much support as we can get."

"I have a lot of restrictions placed on me.  Back in 1999 I tried to escape.  You would too if you were in my place.  As of Feb. 7, 2004,  I will have been locked up 14 years.  Not just in prison.  I've been confined to a cell on death row for 13 years.  You could never understand that feeling.  The administration here still messes with me over that."

"Last year well before 11/7/2002 I was placed over here under a rule called Maximum Management for supposedly having a handcuff key.  It was total b.s.  Over here you have your legal work and writing materials and that's it.  No newspapers, magazines, novels, nothing to read."

"Our recreation is supposed to be once every 30 days according to their rules.  But I've been denied Recreation since 9/16/2003.  You're probably saying, he must get in a lot of trouble; on the contrary, I haven't had a Disciplinary Report (DR) in over a year.  I catch all this flak because  I exert my First Amendment right and they absolutely hate that.  By the way these conditions are unconstitutional and I'm filing a civil suit over this."

"I'm also putting in 3 lawsuits which I've spent a great deal of time on the past couple of weeks.  One is on Maximum Mgt, another is for a 10-day denial of medical care and the 3rd is these officers have destroyed some of my property.  I'm attached the "Notice of Constitutional Deprivation";

Subject: Florida FSP Q or X wing Hunger Strike

Dear Sir of Madame,

I am advised that there is a problem in Florida at the FSP Q formerly X wing.  There is a Hunger strike in progress to protest inhuman conditions and abuse of Human Rights in the illegal use of Solitary Confinement.

Can you investigate the above problem and take the necessary steps to protect Human Rights?

Thank you,
