"According to Constitutional law, we're supposed to have weekly recreation, but this is F.S.P., where they stand above the law, and now they won't even allow us magazines. You'll see how ridiculous this rule is once you read the hunger-strike alert. We can't have them sent from publishers, we can't get them any how, way, shape or form. When the Space Shuttle blew up last year it was over a week before I found out. That's how cut off we are from the outside world. The way I found out was through a lawyer visit."
"Welcome to Hell! Either 2 things are going to happen: This place is going to change, or I'm going to die, but one way or another, I'm not going to endure these conditions much longer."
STARKE, Fla. --
Two of the last three inmates involved in a nine-day hunger strike protesting their treatment at Florida State Prison ate Monday, and the holdout was transferred to a nearby prison, officials said.
Ronald Clark, 36, sentenced to death for a 1990 Duval County slaying, was transferred to Union Correctional Institution, about a mile away, so officials could monitor his medical condition, said Debra Buchanan, a Department of Corrections spokeswoman. Officials could seek a court order to force feed him if he endangers his life.
The two other inmates involved in the hunger strike, Ricardo Gill and Michael Ritter, ate breakfast Monday, Buchanan said.
Eight inmates, all residents on the disciplinary wing at Florida State Prison, began their hunger strike on Feb. 1.
Christopher Michelson, 39, ended his strike Saturday night, the fifth to end his protest. One inmate's protest lasted less than two days, another completed four days and two completed five days.
Among the inmates' demands are more exercise time; availability of books, magazines and newspapers; the ability to visit with and make telephone calls to family and friends; more food; the ability to purchase shampoo, mouthwash and deodorant and the issuing of warmer clothing in winter months.
Gill and Ritter have also been convicted of murder. Michelson is serving a 30-year term for second-degree murder.
The strikers are among 24 inmates on Q wing and are considered by the DOC as the worst of the worst prisoners. Their cells are directly above the state's execution chamber.

Subject: Re: Ronald Clark, Child Molestor & KillerI'm not a good judge, so can't say anything about Ronald Clark's guilt or innocence nor what he 'deserves'.
No one should blame Ronald Clark for still being here. He has begged to be left alone to 'check out' and the system keeps blocking it. What's up with that? If a hopeless man is ready to go, either give him hope or let him go! Otherwise, don't complaint about the 8x10 foot space he takes up on planet earth.
Ronald's in prison for being a criminal. Yesterday it was about his crime and he's 'paying his debt'. Today - this strike - is about things the prison and it's keepers are doing wrong. Those committing crimes under color of law are criminals too. What's the difference? Why do we condemn one and condone the other? They have both done harm to defenseless people.
And some of those suffering uncalled for long periods of isolation on X-Wing are certainly no worst than the criminals wearing the uniforms. And some of them are coming home. What is M/M trying to turn loose on us? Maniacs less able to fit into society? I want more for the money than that! Don't you?
