Dear Ms. Gold:
This is in response to your letter dated November 16, 2000, reference inmate Ashcraft. I regret the delay in responding, but I have looked into the complaint of your letter.
I cannot find any information to justify allegations of life threatening actions toward the inmate. Officer Colemen [sic] does not beat inmates and such allegations against him are simply not true. As Warden, I would not condone nor tolerate such actions from any Corrections staff.
I have instructed Colonel Myron Piggott to discuss this incident with Officer Coleman who has denied the allegations. Inmate Ashcraft can help his cause by obeying the rules and not creating situations where officers must get involved with him.
Feel free to contact me if the need arises.
Sincerely,
J. C. Pevatt
