Why don't we all get all the group members from all the groups to send in one roll of toilet paper to the governor's office and tell them to please give it to the prisoners at their prisons? I have my yellow envelope here waiting, an a roll of tp in my bathroom upstairs. I'm sure it would take about 2-3 stamps. I mail my yellow envelopes from home. We may be out a roll of toilet paper and a few stamps, but when the governor's office gets bombarded with toilet paper, someone will take notice.

This is so cruel. Let me know what you decide. I may send mine anyway. Omg, can you see them thinking its a bunch of bombs and the news people there when they open them?

I'm probably being really silly, but this is the time Bill died last week. I have a zillion thoughts running through my head.

I like the idea of a roll of toilet paper going to the Governor's office. I do however wish to CAUTION you... the roll of toilet paper might well be used by Government officials trying to wipe up the mess we see with regards to ENRON, WORLDCOM, and the likes. Indeed your Governor instead of forwarding the toilet paper to those who need it... might send it to his older brother, who seems to get those Texas boots mired in DO-DO very frequently.

On the lighter side.. hey... dont worry about getting toilet paper into the prisons... it will soon arrive by the truckload as countless CEO's CFO's and the like are cuffed and tosed inside. Oh darn... I forgot.... those most likely to succeed in this effort would NEVER be allowed to reside with common thieves, they're too important and thus Florida likely will have a construction boom... more prisons with GOLF COURSES, SPA's and Excercise centres... where you can be assured toilet paper will be in abundant supply along with.... towels to make sure disease is not spread.

A two-tired prison system... hell why not.. we already have a two tiered society. Yup... it's the US and the THEM's.... tax the shit out of the little person, provide INCENTIVES to big business and when things fall apart... who gives a damn... remember... the RICH get RICHER... and the rest of us... come there... all in unison now... GET POORER AND POORER... and we get to shoulder the Big American dream.

Fenced communities take on a whole new perspective these days... some fences to keep people out.. and others in. The sad fact is... the fences to keep people out... have allowed a segment of society to suggest they are so much better than the people who truly have built your country.

The situation is the same in Illinois max security prisons. They are allowed 1 shower a week and 1 roll of toilet paper. If they run out, that's on them. If you speak out, that comes back on them too.

I want to speak out and make a difference to help but have found from experience that it always comes back on my husband. He handles situations through grieivances, which are never responded to. It's really an unfair and sad situation.

If I could not afford toilet paper for my child and told him to wipe with his hands, they would take my child and put me in jail for child neglect. Geeeezzzzzzzzzzzzzz. Also if he wants to save money and make them wipe with their hands, I hope they have enough soap to wash them. TP is cheaper than soap.

I think that we have enough people sending tp, and it should start arriving on Tuesday. This will be a good time to do a press release. Send this out to media when the time comes. We need to really embarrass the Gov.

I figured it out for Avon Park if they had one roll* per 860, (this could be off just a few), inmates per week for one year it will take 9 cases for each inmate to have one roll for one week that means 468 cases for 52 weeks x $5.48= $2,564.64 and divide this by the number of inmates and you get $2.98+ per inmate per year!!! divide that by 52 weeks and you get $0.05+ and if Jeb is wanting to save money and what better way than cutting your coupons!!!

Are you telling me that the state of Florida can not spend a little over 5 cents per week per inmate...

Anyway, the reason I am contacting you is to suggest that you get a hold of some media in Florida & let them know that there will be an onslaught of tp to jebby - that way maybe there can be some coverage to embarrass jebby into doing the right thing for a change.

I will be sending my roll on Monday & think that you have come up with a fantastic idea. Here in California (particularly Mule Creek) the admin tried the papertowel/photo ducat moratorium for a while on supposed grounds of the budget not being passed (which it still is not) - now, mind you, the photo ducats are paid for by inmate welfare (supposedly not connected to the budget) but all of a sudden mikey knowles "found" some money so they got off of stupid - even though we still don't have a budget - I think someone might have threatened to embarrass him - that seems to be the only thing they understand besides lawsuits.

Anyway, great idea!! Thanks for being such a strong advocate for our brothers & sisters behind the walls.

thats the problem, they are sick and if I don't laugh about it I would sit here and cry because of the injustices this state thinks nothing of putting onto it's inmate population.. We as a country would not let any other country in the world get away with what we do to our own people under the name of justice when dealing with prisoners... Because when you get right down to it.. the only justice that this country gives a person is the first day they enter that court room and that in it self is debatable now days.. once the press gets done with you.

I had my visit at FSP today and one of the guards was telling me that they have had 3 suicide attempts in 2 weeks and 2 of them they saved and this last one did a good job and they could not save him. It was just like a joke to them. Was also told if you are in FSP that is the bottom of the barrel and that is that. I wonder what tests some of these guards have to pass to work at the DOC!!!! I would like to send one as well, but my concern is the Gov. laughing at us and using the paper to wipe his own butt at our expense. It would just supply the Gov. office with plenty of tp to clean their own asses while the guys continue to do without and in turn bring those diseases out to us. Let me know what you think. I don't know the office well at all and I could be speaking out of turn and this could help. So, if so, let me know and I would be happy to send as many roles as I can. Hell, it is only 10 bucks for like 36 rolls here, as long it goes to the guys. Thanks for listening.

this reminded me of a problem I was having with a government department a few years back- I couldn't get them to get my details right, they said I still owed money but sent all my mail to the wrong address... it got complicated, but I solved it by writing to them on toilet paper! I wrote my name and address clearly in felt pen on about 40 feet of loo roll & mailed it to them. Never had a problem after that...:o)
