Since the Encounter Ended...

You can now own a little piece of the Encounter in the form of Disney pins. In recent years, Disney has actually released pins for the lost attraction, one of those is said to include a tiny piece of the actual alien itself in a display bubble.

Also for sale were the seats (not the entire unit, just the seat itself) from the attraction. They were available from a company that was auctioning off artifacts from the theme parks and hotels that they were paid to come in and remove. I do not know if this company is still auctioning or selling online.

As of 2011, it appears that the Disneyquest Video Game based on Alien Encounter is still open. Found on the fifth floor of the Downtown Disney Virtual/Video Game Arcade, Invasion! An ExtraTERRORestrial Alien Encounter uses up to four players, one driver and three gunners, who sit in a 360 degree pod ship and try to rescue scientists from a hostile planet. The game has little to do with the attraction, except for a pre-video appearance by Jeffrey Jones as Chairman Clench.

If you go to YouTube you can see full videos of the attraction, some with HD or Night-Vision where you can see what the A.A. Alien and the glass tube did when the lights went out. I'll probably post some of those links here soon.
