titus

This is a scary ride. Graphic violence and truly evil characters. Your thirst for vengeance is very strong as the hero, Titus (played by Anthony Hopkins), refuses to accept the vote of the people to make him Emperor of Rome, only to be tormented by the person that takes the title in his place.

Be prepared for strong images that leave you cringing long after the scene is ended.

An extremely powerful adaptation of the lesser known Shakespearean play, Titus Andronicus, Titus combines powerful imagery, a compelling story line, and well-developed characters. From the opening sequence, this movie grabs your attention and delivers a roller coaster ride of emotional highs and lows. Not one to see with the kiddies, though. The graphic images and disturbing premise may frighten a young child (and wives, too!) .

Overall, the movie was one of the best I have seen in a long time. Julie Taynor, the director, did a wonderful job of keeping the audience glued to the screen without complicated scenery. A master work of simplicity.
