This site is about a group of men that worked together at Eastern Airlines in Miami,FL.They and their families camped and fished together in South florida. The original group were;Jack Bowers (the un-official wagonmaster ) and his wife Peggy, Butterball Pearce and his wife Marge, Bud Plank and his wife Bernice, Curt Ketner and his wife Marie, Dick LaMarch and his wife Barbara and Al Diamond and his wife Emma.
Of the six original men,all except Al have passed away.I want to dedicate this site to all of the original group. I enjoyed many wonderful trips with them and they all are sorely missed
Jack and Peggy Bowers.I worked with Jack for many years,he was a good friend and as I said kind of our un-official wagon-master.He was raised on Chokoloskee Island on the lower west coast of Florida and knew all the good fishing areas on Lake Okeechobee and the ten thousand islands of Everglades National
Al Diamond, lead mechanic at EAL,guitar picker extraordinaire, singer and all-round good friend.Al and I were fishing buddies for nearly 17 years. Al and I had many, many good fishing trips, with the group and just the two of us.One that I remember fondly, was when we took his nephew, P.J. to Blue cypress for a week-long trip.I think he was about 8 or nine years old. I found out later that he told his friends that we didn't make him take a bath for a whole week. He was a dirty but happy kid.
01/24/2003 Today I received word that my dear friend Al Diamond passed away. Al will be sorely missed by all that knew him. I can still hear him in my mind playing and singing at the camp fire at Lake Okeechobee. " Sleep in peace old friend "
