Dave Martinsen shown as the Lewis approached a tanker for refueling. The Lewis was operating with her port engine out of commission. We bumped the tanker while fueling, but this was not as bad as when we bumped an aircraft carrier while refueling. The carrier snapped our left yardarm.
The sight we all waited months to see. Broadway Pier, San Diago December 1952. The top deck of the pier has all the crew's family members waiting.
