Quiet Nights Of Quiet Stars (Corcovado)
Here are the chord substitutions that I use to play the 1962 Antonio Carlos Jobim's (pictured above) Bossa Nova song Quiet Nights Of Quiet Stars. I play the tune in a moderate 4/4/ Bossa Nova tempo in the Key of "E". The substitutions I use create an interesting descending bass line. For variation, try substituting the "Bm7-A#7" chords for the "Bm6-A#7#5" chords in the fifth and sixth bars. Also, substitute the "D13" chord for the "Am7-Am6" chords in the ninth and tenth bars or the "F#m9/C#" chord for the "B13" chord in the 15th bar. Each box represents one bar. The chord fingerings I use (in a Standard tuning) are as follows: C#m6 = 9x899x; F7#9/C = 8x789x; Bm6 = 7x677x; A#7#5 = 6x677x; AM7 = 5x665x; A6 = 5x465x; Am7 = 5x555x; Am6 = 5x455x; G#m7 = 4x444x; C#7(#5/b9) = x43435; B13 = 7x789x; and Co7 = 8x787x.
