CHAPTER 9 – I’LL NEVER FIND SOMEONE LIKE YOU

"Come on, Taylor. Come out with the guys and me. It’ll be fun"

Charlotte was on the phone, trying again to persuade me to go out with her and the guys.

AJ and her had started dating and they were out a lot with the other guys and wanted me to go with them.

"Is Nick with you too?" I asked. "No, we can’t drag him along either" Charlotte sighed. "And he used to be such a party animal" "Yeah" I said and remembered all the wild parties we’d been at followed by the romantic beach trips by night.

"I can’t, Charlotte" I said. "I’m not ready" "Alright" she said. "But you’re coming to the Prom, right?" "Right, but only for your sake" I said. "Sure" Charlotte said. "I’ll see you later" "Alright. Bye"

I laid down the phone, threw myself on the bed and started crying.

It had been a month since my breakup with Nick and I was completely well and healthy, but something was still broken…my heart.

I was still as much in love with Nick as always, in fact, even more for every day that passed by, and I missed him so much. I couldn’t eat or sleep or do anything without Nick.

If only I hadn’t hurt him so deeply. At this moment, I would forgive him everything if only we could be together again. I already had forgiven him everything, but I didn’t think he’d forgiven me. He probably never would, ever.

"Guys, we gotta do something"

AJ was sitting in the local bar with the rest of bunch holding an arm around Charlotte.

"I can’t stand watching Nick walk around like a dead zombie all the time" "It’s the same thing with Taylor" Charlotte said. "She’s nothing without Nick"

"We gotta find a way to get them back together, at least give them a little push" Brian said.

"Yes, but how?" Howie asked. "Hey, Brian, you just gave me a good idea" Kevin suddenly said.

"What?" Brian said confused and the others looked at Kevin. "Let me tell you..." he smiled.

It was the day before the Prom.

I wasn’t very excited.

In fact, I was deeply depressed. This was suppose to be a night to remember forever, but instead this was going to be a night, I would always regret going to.

I was pricking at my dinner when the phone rang. "Hello" I said.

"Hi Tay" a happy voice said. "B-Rok!" I said happily. "I’m so happy to hear from you. How are you?"

"Oh, I’m fine thanx" Brian said. "Listen I called cuz Charlotte told me you don’t have date for tomorrow?" "No, that’s right" I said. "I was wondering if you’d like me to take you?" "I would love that, Brian" I said. "But you don’t have to feel like it’s an obligation to me" "No, of course not" Brian said. "I’d like to take you tomorrow" "Alright. Can you be here at 8PM?" "Sure" Brian said. "Alright. I’ll see you tomorrow then" "Ya, tomorrow" "Bye" "Bye" I said and laid down the phone.

At least now I was going with my 2 best friends.

I still just wished it was Nick I was going with.

Nick was sitting in his hotel room, just staring out in the empty air.

He was thinking of Taylor, he couldn’t think of anything else but her. He loved her so much, but he knew that she didn’t love him back.

"That’s gotta be the hardest thing about love" he thought. "When it’s un returned"

Then someone knocked at his door. "Come in" he said, and Charlotte entered.

"Hi C" Nick smiled. "Hi Nick" she smiled and closed the door.

She came over and sat beside him. "How are you feeling?" she asked concerned. "Okay, I guess" Nick sighed. "I came by cuz I wanted to ask you to the Prom tomorrow" Charlotte said.

"I thought you were going with AJ" Nick said.

"I was, but he could go anyway, so I thought I’d ask you"

"I don’t know, C" Nick said. "Oh come on, Nick" Charlotte said. "Well, okay, but it’s just cuz you asked me" Nick said. "Thanx" Charlotte said and gave him a hug. "You’re the best" "I know" Nick smiled.

"I’ll see you tomorrow then" Charlotte said and left again.

"Well, guess you have something to do tomorrow then" Nick thought.

Finally a night without thinking about pain and sorrow.

I was putting on the dress I’d bought with Charlotte even before I met Nick.

"It still fits" I thought as I looked in the mirror.

The dress was black with silver sequins sowed into it in different places to make a pattern.

I had put my hair in a long french braid. It looked nice. Now all I had to do was wait for Brian.

Then the doorbell rang. I went down the stairs and opened it. Outside stood Brian in a tox. He actually looked really good in it. "Wow" he said when he looked at me. "You’re beautiful" "Thanx" I smiled. "You’re very handsome" "Very uncomfortable, you must mean" he said. I smiled. "Wanna go?" "I have to give you something first" Brian said and gave me a corsage. "Oh, Brian, you didn’t have to do that" I said.

"Of course I do" Brian smiled. "It’s your Prom" I put the corsage on and we left.

When we drove to the school we talked all the way. Brian was so sweet and caring, just like Nick.

When we got to the school, there were puff clouds everywhere. The theme of the Prom was

"A Match Made In Heaven" Just great!

I walked in with Brian. They had decorated it beautiful. There were puff clouds in the whole ballroom and smoke was coming up from everywhere. There hang little angels from the sealing. "It’s beautiful" I said. "Yeah" Brian said and smiled at me. "Wanna dance?" "Love too" I smiled and we walked out on the dance floor.

Brian was actually a good dancer, but he seemed to be steering me in a particular direction.

We talked and laughed until we suddenly bumped into someone from behind. "Oh, I’m sorry..." I said and looked up.

There was Nick, looking just as confused as me. Charlotte was standing behind him, but walked over to Brian. "Excuse us for a minute" Charlotte said and they danced away, laughing.

I looked down in the floor. I didn’t have the guts to look at him, but in the end I just had to, so I looked up.

He looked just as lovely as always, except, that glow he’d always had in his eyes were gone.

He had been looking down the floor too, but looked up at me now.

"So...how you’ve been?" I asked. That was the best thing I could come up with.

"Fine" he said. "How about you?" "Oh, just great" I said. That was the biggest lie on earth, but I couldn’t tell him that I was lonely and miserable without him, that I couldn’t live without him.

"Taylor?" Nick suddenly said.

"Yes" I said eagerly. "Well, there’s something I wanna tell you" Nick said. "I know you don’t love me but..." "Nick" I said and moved closer.

"I didn’t mean what I said that day. I was just so hurt about what you had done"

"Well, you see, the thing is..." Nick said. "Brian told me the whole story" I said. "I was just scared to tell you how I felt about you, and that I would get hurt again, but I realize now that you would never do that to me".

"And how do you feel about me, Taylor?" Nick asked, looking intensively at me.

"You know that don’t you?" I said. "I need to hear you say it" Nick said. "I’ve been miserable for a very long time, and I need to know how you feel"

"Okay" I said. "I love you, Nick. I always have and I always will, but I can understand if you stopped loving me, if you ever really did cuz..." He laid a hand over my mouth.

"Would you let me make my own decisions, thank you?" he laughed. I nodded and he took the hand away.

I could see that the glow was back in his eyes. "So how do you feel about me, Nick?" I asked.

He walked over to me and gave me a soft kiss.

Then he said: "I love you, Taylor, I hope you know that.

I guess I always have, I just didn’t realize it till very late, and I was afraid to scare you off if I told you" "Oh my God, I’m gonna cry" I laughed. Nick wiped the tears away and kissed me on the forehead.

Then the DJ spoke in the microphone: "Okay boys and girls, here comes a soppy song by request so grab your favorite partner and hit the dance floor"

Suddenly the song "I’ll Never Find Someone Like You" broke through the speakers.

"Oh my God, that’s our song" I said. "Ya, and who do you think requested it?" Nick smiled and pointed over to Brian and Charlotte, who was smiling and waving like crazy at them.

"Wanna dance, my love?" Nick smiled. "Of course I will" I said. We started dancing and I laid my head on his chest. It was so good being with him again, it was just so hard to believe that he really loved me.

I looked at Nick again. "Do you really love me, Nick?" I asked. He smiled.

"I love you, Taylor Johnson. I will use my whole life convincing you on that" "I’m already convinced now" I smiled.

"And I love you too"

"This is the best day of my life" Nick smiled and slowly he took my head gently between his hands and gave me a long kiss as the song played in the background:

I’ll never

I’ll never find someone like you

I promise it’s true, no I’ll never

I’ll never find someone like you

Cuz I love the way that you are

And girl, I wont

No, I won’t let you go

No one could ever do

I’ll never find some like you
