Stop Being Weird

I wrote "Stop Being Weird" in August and September of 2001. It's about weirdness. Well...stopping it anyway. Enjoy.

her whispers ceaselessly teasing you

it’s not there
and finally
finally

you can think about
thinking again

so happy
you don’t feel anything
anymore

i'm so preposterous

i don't know if my mind
is clever enough
to make fun of me
without me knowing about it

there might be some
private jokes
between my right brain and my left brain
at my expense

for instance
i dreamt i
was riding my bike at 5 in the morning
between art rock gigs

very funny

these people aren't my fucking friends

i am on pause
please tell me
where is should bo

i am on pause to catch everybody

no one comes to me
please tell me
where i should be

there is only so much
of your antagonism
that i will suffer

these people aren't my fucking friends pt. 2

this is what i can handle
and this is what i have lost
thanks to you

please don't show me that picture

your picture brings with it

he/she is nothing a flake

they never do
nothing they say
they gonna do

appetite suppressants

now lay down richard

you feel that record skipping
in your head?

that’s your pulse

you feel that?

that’s your breathing

open up

wake up and win wake up and win wake up and win wake up and win wake up and win wake up and win wake up and win wake up and win wake up and win wake up and win wake up and win wake up and win wake up and win wake up and win wake up and win wake up and win wake up and win wake up and win wake up and win wake up and win wake up and win wake up and win wake up and win wake up and win wake up and win wake up and win wake up and win wake up and win wake up and win wake up and win wake up and win wake up and win wake up and win wake up and win wake up and win wake up and win wake up and win wake up and win wake up and win wake up and win wake up and win wake up and win wake up and win wake up and win wake up and win wake up and win wake up and win wake up and win wake up and win wake up and win wake up and win wake up and win wake up and win wake up and win wake up and win wake up and win wake up and win wake up and win wake up and win wake up and win wake up and win wake up and win wake up and win wake up and win wake up and win wake up and win wake up and win wake up and win wake up and win wake up and win wake up and win wake up and win wake up and win wake up and win wake up and win wake up and win wake up and win wake up and win wake up and win wake up and win wake up and win wake up and win wake up and win wake up and win wake up and win wake up and win wake up and win wake up and win wake up and win wake up and win wake up and win wake up and win wake up and win wake up and win wake up and win wake up and win wake up and win wake up and win wake up and win wake up and win wake up and win wake up and win wake up and win wake up and win wake up and win wake up and win wake up and win wake up and win wake up and win wake up and win wake up and win wake up and win wake up and win wake up and win wake up and win wake up and win wake up and win wake up and win wake up and win wake up and win

nothingisstillnow

it was at her mom’s house
where i felt the most stillness

i had never known
such stillness before

even with the hum of the a/c
and the fan
i could feel every inch
of the driveway yard and road

nothing moved without me
knowing about it

at times
i could hear the dew forming

everything stopped when i strained
to listen to
my stomach knotted
to such stillness

THE END OF MACHO

thank god
no one has
to think like that anymore
or walk
or talk

loafers and no socks
can do

the old ways are over
throw like a girl

end of macho

thank god that's over
dude

Documentation

blur

i can only hope to imitate
and pretend that i helped
orchestrate this thing

i carry the camera
to sneak up on you
with hopes to capture

dreamy and prosperous
when it works
always works

video set to loop
audio in and out of sequence

look at that

architects need you

i need you

open eyed nap

i can't see to the end

the work is stupid
but easy

maybe that is why
they like me
so much

these shoes
are way too comfortable

they have
no arch support
and no traction

rip up the ceiling

pull down the lights

stop being weird

i think and believe
that what is best for me
is not pretending
that i understand

it looks better
from above
high above

also
if the world has to end today
now
it's okay

the ending ends
