FUNERAL ANNOUNCEMENT - 9/12/04

Evanda Lee Rhea Sallinger passed away Friday afternoon, September 10, 2004 at Bay Medical Center with her family by her side.

Evanda was born in Greenville, FL and moved with her parents to Bay County, spending most of her school years in Lynn Haven, FL. She graduated from Bay High School in 1960 and earned an Associate of Arts degree at Gulf Coast Community College in 1962.

In April 1962, Evanda married her husband, Richard Lee Sallinger, who was in the Air Force at Tyndall AFB, FL and she traveled throughout the world during his military career. During those years she was employed at various radio stations as a program manager and assisting Mr. Paul Harvey at WPCF in Panama City was a memorable occasion for her.

When Richard retired from the military she moved to Nebraska where they stayed for two years. While there, she became interested in nursing while working as a nursing home aid until they moved back to Lynn Haven, FL. Evanda returned to college life at Gulf Coast Community College where she earned her Registered Nursing degree and worked in the nursery Neo-Natal Unit at Gulf Coast Hospital for the next ten years.

When an ankle injury limited her ability to continue her nursing career, Evanda pursued her joy and passion for creating watercolor and oil paintings, making crafts, developing graphic designs, internet websites, and passed her creative legacy to her children and grandchildren.

Evanda is survived by her husband, three sons, and 3 grandchildren. Preceding her in death are her parents.

To The Family:

Ever since we heard what happened
We've had you on our minds
And we feel so bad you're suffering
Through such a trying time
We'd like to find some special words
To comfort you right now
To give you strength and help you cope
To lift you up somehow
We're pulling for you all the way
With our warmest wishes too
And with hope for brighter days
Our hearts go out to you
