Autumn of Our Lives
As autumn leaves are turning,
And I feel that crispness in the air,
It brings back thoughts of yesterdays,
When my life seemed without care.
Then at Chrstmas we would gather,
And open all our gifts,
We’d sing and there’d be much laughter,
All our spirits would get a lift.
Now that you are both gone from us,
Things just are not the same.
There are times I still catch myself,
Wanting to call out your names.
For it seems when we are children,
The time it goes so slow.
But now that we are grown,
We say, where did the time go?
So, as we are now reaching,
The autumn of our lives,
We pray one day we’ll greet you,
In our home beyond the skies.
And then you’ll hear our voices,
Raised in laughter once again,
As we join with our families,
To live eternally with our King.
