My son Shane lives in the desert in California.
Whenever he comes to visit, it gets harder each time to say
goodbye so I wrote this poem to him. When searching for a
graphic set to use, I came upon this desert set, which I
thought was perfect to use. Thanks to Penny Parker!
~Why Must You Leave~
As I sit looking out my window,
I see dark clouds in the sky,
They seem to go with this day
Why must you leave? Why oh why?
In my heart I understand,
It’s time for you to leave.
But the parting brings such sorrow,
And my Soul, it begins to grieve.
As tears begin to flow,
From these ole sad brown eyes,
I pray Lord, please take good care of him,
As that plane takes him across these skies.
Lord, keep your hand upon him,
Guide him all throughout his years.
Help him always make the right choices
And, Lord, help me dry these tears.
Yes, I know that you have helped him
To be the young man he is today
One this mother is so proud of
In each and every way.
Even as this heart is grieving,
As time draws near for us to part.
Let him always know he has a place.
Down deep inside my heart.
A Mother’s Love will never die.
The years only make it stronger.
And each time you’re here to visit,
I only wish you could stay longer.
Yet know, as you leave this day.
You’ll take my love back home with you.
And I’ll be counting the days impatiently,
Waiting to see you once more, this is true.
To my son, Shane
All my love Always,
Mom
