While in jail, Speck mocked the jail system by making explicit video tapes of him and another inmate using cocaine and marijuana. He also showed off his "new body" after taking hormonal injections. He wore women's underwear and bragged about the life that he lived in prison. He once stated "If anyone knew how much fun I was having, they would let me go". The video tapes were discovered after his death.
