I received a letter a few weeks ago from a fellow shipmates daughter. She wanted to know if i remembered her dad. His name was John Hoskins and he was head cookaboard the Henderson in 1951 at the same time i was aboard. I did not recall the name. She then sent me some photos and as soon as I saw the picture of her Dad i remembered him. Many a cold night on watch from 0400to 0800 i went to the galley for a cup of coffee and if lucky some fresh made bread smothered in creamy butter.

Help Dan find his fathers shipmates.

18 December.2004. I received this e-mail today from a son that was looking for shipmates of his father who served aboard the Hendy. He enclosed the photo below of some guys at the Hula Hut in San Diego ( we all remember the Hula Hut dont we ??? ) Anyone knowing Urban Goodwin or the guys in the photo please contact his son via e-mail address given with the letter.

Mr Adams,
I know you have no idea who I am. But I was looking thru my Dads online ship crew members. And saw your name on the roster, on or about the same time my Dad was onboard. He was onboard the USS Henderson sometime in the late 40's or early 50's. I have a picture of him and some of his shipmates from a place called the Hula Hut out in San Deigo, CA, from back in 1952. And was wondering if you knew any of the men shown in the picture. If you would be kind enough to email me back and let me know if you knew him, his name was Urban C. Today i received an e- mail from an old friend,Bob Hasty. Bob was aboard the Hendy at the same time i was in 1950. The ship had just reurned from a 9 month tour in Japan and as sailors will we immediately headed for Tia Juana. Below is a phot of Bob, Me and another friend, Scotty, with a stripper named Judy. That is all that i will say about that liberty.
