Chapter Five

Please title this page. (Page 3)

The next morning at 7:00, Aurora’s alarm went off. She turned it off and went into the bathroom and took a shower. When she finished she went back into the room and sat on her bed, got her nail polish remover, cotton balls, and nail polish out. She took the old nail polish she had on, off her nails. She sat indian style on the bed; she filed her nails and then started shaking the nail polish she was going to use. Of course, disturbing Laura.

"Aurora Nava de Morales I’m going to kick your ass if you don’t stop!" She yelled into her pillow.

Aurora ignored her and continued shaking the bottle.

"Ro, please?"

"Sorry, I gotta do my nails." Was the response she got.

"I hate you, Aurora!" Laura climbed out of bed and stomped over to Stevie and Jade’s room. Aurora just laughed at her and started painting her nails blue.

Around 7:40 Rosie woke up. She rolled over on her left side, facing Ro, yawning.

"Hey, where’s Laura?"

"In Jade and Stevie’s room. She got mad at me because I kept shaking my nail polish."

"Oh, I see. Well, I’m gonna take a shower." Rosie got up and went into the bathroom.

Aurora continued to paint her nails. Jade walked in, dressed in a yellow sundress. She was braiding a few strains of her short brunette hair.

"Did you know that Laura has a death threat out for you?"

"Yep, she got mad at me because I wouldn’t stop shaking my nail polish."

"Oh, that’s why. She wouldn’t tell me why. Just that she was going to kill you."

"That’s nice."

Shortly later Stevie walked in, wearing dark blue flare jeans and a black tight, stretch tank top.

"I know, Laura wants me dead." Aurora said.

"She does? Guess that’s why she’s on our couch, sleeping."

"Oh, she didn’t tell you she’s gonna kill me? Good." Aurora laughed.

"Yeah, whatever you say. But someone needs to get her up."

"It ain’t gonna be me."

"I’ll get her up." Jade walked back into her room and got Laura up. Rosie was out of the bathroom when she woke up, so she went in there and got into the shower.

Rosie got dressed in black pants and a dark blue halter-top.

"Yeah, that’ll turn ‘em on, Rosie." Stevie commented.

"You know me." She replied.

15 minutes later Laura came out and she got dressed in blue jeans and a white top that said ‘Glam’ in silver letterings. Aurora had on blue capris and a long sleeved ‘Mudd’ t-shirt, that had a hood. They got their shoes on and went down to the lobby where Rob was waiting for them.

They got into the limo and it took them to Jive. 15 minutes later, they arrived at Jive.

"Ok ladies, I’ll be here when you get finished. Go up to the 5th floor and walk down the hall and you’ll see Rick’s office."

"Ok, thank you Rob." They got out and went inside.

They got onto an elevator and it took them to the 5th floor. They walked down the hall and saw an office that had the name ‘Rick Olds’ on it.

"I guess this is the place." Jade said. She knocked on the door and waited.

"Come in." They heard a male’s voice say.

They opened the door and walked inside, seeing 3 people in the room.

"Hello and good morning. I take it you’re Angel Dreams?" Rick asked.

"Yes, that’s us." Stevie answered.

"Glad to see you made it safely. Please have a seat and we’ll get started."

They sat in the 5 chairs that were in front of his desk. They began to review the contract, and while Rick read over it, the girls got a bad feeling about it. It would have them give all their songs they wrote, to the writers of Jive, they wouldn’t have any rights to anything. They’d just have to see their songs and get a number 1 hit. The contract basically said they would be property of Jive and they wouldn’t be able to write any songs or go on their own vacations. They would pretty much have no rights and wouldn’t be able to do anything on their own.

And now they didn’t know whether to sign it or not. They wished they had a lawyer or their parents with them.

"So, what do you ladies say?" Rick asked.

"Um, could we talk in private for a few minutes?" Jade asked.

"Sure, you can go talk in the hall. You only have 10 minutes though."

"Ok, thank you."

They got up and left the room.

"Is it just me or does it sound like we’re just signing our lives away?" Rosie asked.

"That’s what it sounds like, pretty much." Laura said.

"Do you guys really want to do this?" Stevie asked.

"I’m not sure anymore. I want to be able to write my own stuff and do things we want to do." Aurora answered.

"Yeah, so do we. So, what do you want to do?" Jade asked.

They became silent and thought about what they wanted to do. Either sign the contract and become property of Jive and get their rights taken away or not sign and not get a record deal.

"Ok, I hate to say this. But I don’t want my rights taken away. So, I say we don’t sign it and let it go." Aurora suggested.

"Yeah, I agree with you." Jade replied. The other 3 nodded in response.

"It just wasn’t meant to be, I guess. But it was nice while it lasted." Stevie said.

They went back inside the office.

"Well, ladies have you come up with a decision?" Rick asked.

"Yes, we have. We decided not to sign the contract and let the deal go." Jade answered.

"Oh, but why?"

"It’s just not for us right now." Laura said.

"Ok, if that’s how you all feel."

"It is. Thank you for the opportunity though." Rosie said.

"I guess we’ll find someone else. I’ll make arrangements for your flight back home and you can go home tonight. Sorry it couldn’t work out."

"We are too. Goodbye."

They left the office and went downstairs and outside. They just stood out there, in silence, thinking. Wishing it could have been different.

"Boy, talk about short and sweet. Although it wasn’t very sweet." Laura said.

"Yeah, I know. I wish it were different." Rosie replied.

"We all do, Rosie. But I guess it wasn’t meant to happen right now. But we’ll find something better." Jade said.

"It sucks that we have to go back to Chicago so soon. We just got here." Aurora sighed.

"I hear ya. I don’t wanna go back either." Stevie responded.

"None of us do." Rosie said. She sat on the sidewalk and sighed. Jade sat next to her, and Laura sat next to Jade. Stevie and Aurora stood in front of them. They all sighed. Thinking about what it would have been like, if it was different.

They were brought back to reality when they heard someone clear their throat. Stevie & Aurora turned around and Jade, Rosie, & Laura looked up.

"Hi ladies. Sorry to bother you, but we couldn’t help but notice that you look sad." A man, with semi-long hair said.

"It’s ok. But we’re just bummed." Stevie replied.

"Why’s that?" Another man, with curly dark hair, asked.

"A contract went wrong." Rosie said, sighing again.

"Oh, I’m sorry. Are you ladies a group?" One with dirty blonde hair asked.

"Yeah, we were going to sign a contract, but it was pretty much going to take away all our rights and we didn’t want that." Laura answered.

"Wow, you’re smart ladies. Wish we were that smart when we signed our first contract."

"You guys are a group too?" Jade asked.

"Yeah, but we’re not signed with Jive anymore."

"That’s good. I guess." Aurora said.

"It is. So, what are all your names?" The tattooed one asked.

"Mine is Stevie."

"Aurora."

"Laura."

"Jade."

"And I’m Rosie."

"Cool. I’m Kevin."

"Howie."

"Brian."

"AJ."

"And Nick."

"Cool. Nice you meet you." Stevie extended her hand out to Kevin and that’s when it hit her that they were indeed a very famous group.

"Wait, you’re all the Backstreet Boys."

"Yep, that’d be us." Nick said.

"What are you doing at Jive?" Laura asked.

"Just had to pick up some papers." Kevin answered.

"Oh, ok. Cool." Jade said.

"Hey wait, I recognize you girls!" AJ exclaimed.

The girls and guys just looked at him like he was nuts.

"Guys, you remember going out last night, right?" He asked the guys.

"Yeah, what are you getting at AJ?" Brian asked.

"Were you ladies at City Walk last night?"

"Yeah, we were. But how’d you know?" Aurora asked.

"You guys sang at the karaoke bar last night. The guys and I were there and we saw you."

"Oh yeah, that’s right. We were there to have some fun and you ladies got on stage and sang an Otown song. You did great." Howie complimented.

"Thanks." Rosie replied, still a little confused at what they were getting at.

"Hey, I’m sorry guys, but we gotta go back to the hotel and get ready to go back to Chicago." Jade said, standing up.

"Fine. Well, it was nice meeting you guys." Laura got up as well.

"See you." Rosie stood up.

"Bye." Aurora said. They began to walk to the limo, all walking slowly. They were almost to the car when Laura felt someone grab her arm and spin her around. She looked up and saw Brian and the rest of the guys.

"What?" Laura asked.

"You ladies give up too quickly. You know we have our own record label, right?" Brian asked.

"Yeah, so?" Rosie was confused.

"Well, we discussed it and are willing you give you an audition and possibly sign you to our label." AJ said.

"Are you serious?" Aurora asked.

"Yes, we’re very serious. What do you say?" Kevin asked.

The girls looked at each other, nodded and then screamed.

"Thank you, thank you, thank you!" They each hugged one of the guys, almost knocking them down.

The guys just laughed at their outburst.

"You’re welcome." They said. The girls finally let go and then hugged each other.

"So, what’s your groups name?" Nick asked.

"Angel Dreams." Stevie answered.

"Cute name."

"Cute? Honey, I don’t think so. We’re 5 bad ass hoes." Rosie said, laughing.

"Wait, isn’t it 4, not 5?" AJ asked.

"I made my own verse, k?"

"Whatever you say. Just as long as Lil Kim, Mya, Pink, or Christina don’t came after you."

"Don’t worry, they won’t. I’ll kick their ass before they can kick mine."

AJ laughed. He liked this Rosie, and was glad that her group might sign with his group. Couldn’t wait to get to know her better.

"Ok, whatever you too. We’re gonna go and get the papers we needed to pick up and then we can go to Nick’s house and hang out?" Kevin asked.

"That’s fine. We have to go to the hotel we’re staying at and get our things, because I’m sure they’re not going still have our room booked now that we’re not signed." Aurora replied.

"We’ll drop by there and get your things before we go to Nick’s." Brian said.

"Alright, let’s go." Laura replied.

The guys went inside and got whatever papers they needed to get and went back outside. They all got into their limo and went to the hotel, got the girls things and went to Nick’s house...
