Chapter Eight

Nick:

The next morning I woke up on a couch. I laid there, trying to think where I was. Then I remembered I was at Felicia’s. I guess I wasn’t wake able last night, which is normal.

I was staring up at the ceiling, when I heard a door open. I looked down and saw Felicia walking from the hallway in her pj’s. And he hair was a mess.

"Morning." I said, sitting up.

"Mmm.." She mumbled and continued to walk into the kitchen. I got up and followed her. She put coffee into the coffee make and began to make some coffee. I sat at her table, while we waited for the coffee to be brewed. 10 minutes later it finished and she sat down next to me, with her cup of coffee, sipping it slowly.

"I take it you’re not a morning person?" I asked. She just shook her head in response. I had to laugh, and she glared at me some, so I stopped.

"It’s nice to know you’re alive. I swear you’re the hardest person to wake up." She complained.

"When I’m dead tired, I am. But if I’m not that tired, I’m not that hard to wake up."

"Sure, whatever. How’d you sleep?"

"Ok, your couch is pretty comfortable."

"Thanks. I’m going to go get ready for work. I’ll be out in about 30 minutes."

"Ok, I’ll be watching cartoons."

She just gave me a weird look as she got up and walked back to her room. I got up and went back to the living room. I turned on the TV and flipped through the channels and decided to watch Dragon Ball Z.

Felicia came out 30 minutes later, dressed in black dress pants and a red cardigan top. Her long hair was down with barrettes on each side.

"Let’s get something to eat and then I’ll take you home."

"Ok." I got up and followed her to the kitchen. She got two bowls down and we had cereal. We finished and turned everything off and left. She dropped me off at my house and left.

I took a shower and got dressed for the day. I was slowly getting out of my depression and for a week now I hadn’t thought of Becca once and I was glad about that.

The week went by quickly. For two days I played basketbal with Brian, trying to beat him, but had no luck. Kevin and Kristin came back from Kentucky and we’re all going to go out to dinner before we leave for California.

Brian, Amanda, Laura, Howie, Dani, AJ, Kristin, Kevin, Steph, and Felicia are going to be there. It’ll be cool.

The night of the dinner came and I was almost done getting ready when the doorbell rang. I ran downstairs and opened the door. I saw Steph and Felicia standing there.

"Evening ladies. You both look very nice."

"Thanks, so do you." Steph said. Felicia smiled in response. I let them in and went went into the living room.

"What time is the dinner?" Steph asked.

"8:00 I think. About 30 minutes from now."

"Cool, I’m not going to eat much, because I have a date with Gavin."

"Ok, that’s fine. I’m going to go get finished getting ready. Make yourselves comfortable and I’ll be back in less than 10 minutes."

"Ok." Felicia spoke for the first time.

I ran upstairs and finished getting my shoes on and tried putting my tie on, but wasn’t having much luck. I decided to do it later and ran back downstairs. I was pretty much ready.

"Are you ladies ready?"

Felicia looked up from her spot on the couch and then started laughing.

"Nick, would you like some help with your tie?" She asked, getting up.

"Um, yeah. I had a little trouble."

"Yeah, I’d say so." She fixed it and made it look perfect.

"Thanks, I’ll have to keep you around for award shows and stuff."

"Alright, whatever. Let’s get going or Kevin will have your head if you’re late."

I nodded, grabbed my keys and wallet and lead them out of the house. We got into my Mercedes and I drove to the restaurant, which was on the beach. We got there in 15 minutes, parked, and went inside. Everyone was there when we got there.

"Can you ever be on time, Nick?!" Kevin joked.

"You’ve known me how long, Kev?" Was my response to him. I sat next to Brian, Felicia sat next to me, and Steph next to her.

A waiter came by and took our orders. We talked while we waited for our food.

"So, Steph, Felicia when do you guys graduate?" Kevin asked them.

"In May." Steph answered.

"Wow, that soon?"

Yeah, we’re both majoring in dance and it doesn’t take that long." Felicia said.

"That’s cool. We’ll be sure to come to your graduation." Dani said.

"So, are all of you going to California?" Steph asked.

"Yeah, we are. Us girls can’t live without our boys for a month. But we’re not going on tour with them. Well, the beginning anyway." Amanda answered.

"Coolness."

We talked more and our food came. We ate, talked, and Steph left early, so she could go on her fate with her boyfriend. We finished eating and all decided to leave and go our separate ways.

I took Felicia home, since she didn’t have her car.

"Well, I’ve known you for about a month now, almost anyway. And you’re one of my best friends."

"Same, Nicky. Where’d that come from?"

"I honestly don’t know. I just felt like saying it." I laughed and so did she.

"Well, thanks for the ride and thanks for being a really good friend."

"No prob. Thanks for everything."

"I’ll miss not seeing you almost everyday."

"Same. Oh, here’s my email address. Email me whenever."

"Alright, will do. Here’s mine, you do the same."

"Ok, I’ll see you later. Take care."

"I will, you too. Bye Nicky."

"Bye Felicia."

She got out of the car and walked to her apartment. She went inside and I drove home. I had to get some sleep because we had an early flight in the morning. I got home, changed, watched a little TV and then went to bed...
