Blue Ridge Airpark
Welcome to the best little flying community in Florida.
Located just west of Oak Hill, Florida at 28 deg 51 min 34 sec North by 80 deg 54 min 38 sec West, Blue Ridge Airpark is a private, by invitation only, flying community.
Registered with the Florida Department of Transportation as 34FD the active runway 35/ 17 is 2250 ft of hard packed natural turf with turn-around areas at the north and south ends.
Having been around for 50+ years, the runway runs atop a natural sand ridge that allows it to stay dry no matter what the Florida weather tosses its way.
Not bad for a grass strip sitting about 17 ft ASL.
Sadly, due to the state of our world, the FAA and the TSA have ordered that all airports, including private, have a security plan.
Please know that Blue Ridge Airpark is a private, " by invitation only " airfield. The active runway is closed to General Aviation without the expressed invitation of one of the residents. Aviators visiting our field may expect questions as to who they are there to see. All suspicious activity will be reported to the authorities. These measures are not intended to intrude on the enjoyment of aviation activities, but rather to protect us all. Guest are asked to please understand our concern for airport security and act accordingly. As an invited guest, keep in mind that you are on private property the whole time you are at Blue Ridge Airpark (this includes the active runway and taxi areas ). For the safety of fellow aviators, please exit the active runway as soon as possible. Parking aircraft anywhere on the active runway is not permitted for any reason. You will find that many of the field's residents are willing to allow visiting aircraft to be parked on their property ( off the active ). This arrangement is solely dependent on the good graces of the individual property owners, and should be arranged before arriving. If you are asked to move your aircraft off of private property, please do so. Respect for private property and common courtesy go a long way to making new friends and keeping old ones. Please use the turn-around areas for turning around. The residents have put them there to keep prop blast from hitting their homes.
Please Note that Emergency / Rescue activities are ( of course ) exempt from any restrictions. The residents of Blue Ridge Airpark are proud to be an emergency fire-fighting and rescue airfield and have a long history of helping out fellow aviators in distress.
