Finally, Hamilton Hospitality will be available at the Grey Cup starting this year in Edmonton.  The Tigers’ Lair, representing fans of the Hamilton Tiger Cats and the City of Hamilton have set up a hospitality suite at the Coast Edmonton Plaza Hotel, in Edmonton where along with loyal Hamilton Ti-Cat fans will be the eastern division champions – which of course will be our Cats!  We have Grey Cup game tickets on reserve and a block of rooms at the Hotel.  We will provide updates on air flight as soon as it is available.  We are currently working out the best deal for our fans!

In order to have the “best from the east” hospitality at the Grey Cup, we are hosting a Kick Off BBQ at Gage Park in Hamilton on Saturday, June 22 from 11 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.  Admission and parking are free.  Special Guests include the Ti-Cat Cheerleaders, TC and Pig Skin Pete, maybe a player or two.  We will feature entertainment from THUD, a musical comedy troupe and The Kevin MacLean band, a local Hamilton band who have just released a CD that include artists who collectively have won 6 Juno awards!!!!!

If you are looking for Ti-Cat merchandise be sure to stop by their tent in “football alley”.   In football alley will be the registration desk for the Punt, Pass and Kick competition ($2.00 to enter) for the kids to challenge their skills for their chance to win great prizes.

Join the Tiger’s Lair now.  For $25 per adult, we will provide you with a t-shirt featuring our unique logo and a Privilege Card granting discounts from various businesses.  Each month, new members will be entered into a draw for a Ti-Cat crested jersey sponsored by Sports Obsession (Limeridge Mall).  The winner will be presented with a coupon to be redeemed at Sports Obsession where they will get their choice of color, size and name and number of their favorite Ti-Cat player.

For further information on the Tigers’ Lair and updates on Membership Privileges, visit our website at www.tigerslair.ca or stop by at our booth in the Tailgate party on June 13 and June 29.  On July 12 we will be inside the stadium!  Drop by!

ONE TIME AT GREY CUP

We are looking for stories for this column.  This column is a take from the movie American Pie and the character that continually tells annoying stories about her band camp.  What we would like to see is stories from fans that wish to share their experiences while attending Grey Cup.  So if you have any interesting or funny stories that have happened to you or your friends at Grey Cup (that you can remember) please submit them to cflfans@hotmail.com.  And the names of the innocent and not so innocent will be protected.

BOMBER FANS ITCHING

John Mantler (True Blue)

Winnipeg Rep

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers had a fairly busy winter.  They didn’t fool around and set out with one thing in mind.  Keep the team in tact.  And bring in a couple more boys if you can.  And they did just that.  With 8 of 12 free agents signed (that they wanted to sign anyway), they were well on their way.  Some people might say that it was enough to sign those 8 guys.  But it wasn’t enough for them.  They brought in a few more big boys to shore up the lines.  Benefield, Sellers just to name a couple.

In my opinion the big thing is that the team is still together.  We don’t have to worry about gelling, there will only be a couple of rookies on the team this year.  From the current point of view, this could be our best year ever in franchise history.

It sure is easy to say that now.  We’re currently undefeated.  No one’s found any weaknesses on the team and we can start that winning streak all over again.  But I have a little different way of looking at it.  And it’s the same thing I keep harping on.  It doesn’t matter if you’re a Winnipeg fan or a BC fan.  Winnipeg will have a good year, no doubt.  Will they win the Grey Cup?  I can’ say for sure but I’m pretty certain.  But what if they don’t win it?  Then what?  Well, as I’ve said before.  Cheer now because you’ll never know when the fun ends.

I brought up BC before because it doesn’t look to good for them this year (I could be wrong).  Does that mean the fans should just give up now?  Heck no!  Cheer every game, as loud as you can and as much as you can.  Only 1 out of 9 teams will win the Grey Cup.  Should the other 8 team’s fans cheer less?  Nope.  Just cheer.

Now to get back to the Blue Bombers, let’s have a quick look at positions.  With blue bringing in Sellers, Wade Miller is a question.  Wade played full back last year but he isn’t nearly as big as Sellers, so you be certain Miller won’t play there anymore.  Chances are he’ll go back to Special Teams and be the dominant force he had been for so many years.  Then we have Troy Westwood.  Yeah, he didn’t cost us the game but sure didn’t help.  So the Bombers have brought in Jamie Boreham.  It’s been a while since they had anyone in to push Westwood.  But you can rest assured this is a good thing.  Whatever problem he’s having, he needs to have it solved now.

To wrap it up, many Blue fans are itching for this season to get going.  We can almost sniff a better season than last and we can wait.  Let’s get this slaughter going’ because it’s going to be a lot of fun!
