AARON
NAGY
This
year’s Labour Day game was a success both on and
off
the field, whether you went to the game or not.
The
Pump got the weekend started off right with their
huge
Labour Day Party. Those who showed up to party to
The
Pump, including Bluebomber fan’s, certainly had a
rockin’
good time.
Many
Bluebomber fans, of course, came from Winnipeg to
cheer
on the blue and gold. Personally, I wouldn't be
caught
dead (or alive) wearing those colours. While in
Winnipeg
earlier this spring, I was wearing my new
Rider
coat. My girl friend, who is from Manitoba,
wanted
to wear the coat and so I let her. Later that
night
as we went for a walk, several people actually
flipped
her the bird! Is the rivalry that bad??
Apparently
it is. So when coming down Albert street in
Regina
on game day, shoulder to shoulder with the many
Bomber
fans walking to Taylor Field, I just had to
scream
"Go Riders!" They in turn yelled "Go Bombers!",
and
then an air horn went off. It’s truly a classic.
The
Labour Day battle has been an annual event for as
long
as I can remember and longer. What are your
favorite
memories from years gone by? Is it Ridgway’s
60
yard field goal in 1988? Is it Don Narcisse’s pass
to
Farthing? Share your stories with me, and I’ll put
them
in my Memories of the Season and Season’s Past
Article at the end of the year. |
