Rounding the curve, you come upon another fork in the road.

*sigh*.. I wonder if I'm really just going in circles now..,you think to yourself.
Unaware of the now rapidly fading sunlight, you continue on, not really sure anymore of your origional reason for venturing out to the forest. Sitting down to catch your breath, suddenly you realize the birds have ceased their singing.
Hhmm.. wonder what happened to cause the birds to stop.
You shiver, not wanting to think of what might lay ahead that caused the unusual silence. Sitting down again to find your bearings, you notice you are looking across a crystaline lake.
Ooh! I hope that water's drinkable.. you think to yourself.
Shrugging, you inch over to the water's edge, and peer around cautiously to check for signs of life. Making your hands into a cup, you dip them in the cool, refreshing water and splash it onto your face. It feels so good! Taking a few more handfuls to sip long and slow, you reach in again to splash in your face and laugh alloud. Suddenly your obliviousness to safety seems to be a good thing, for a small furred creature silently pads towards you, ears pricked forward curious at your sounds. It senses your happiness and without fear sits right next to you! It cocks its head to the side, observing your behavior. When you finally stop giggling at the delight of the cool water, you turn to notice it.

"Oh, hello! Aww.. can I pet you?" you ask, feeling rather foolish for asking this sentient creature for permission to pet it.
Surprisingly, it purrs and lays its soft head in your lap, seemingly enjoying the attention.

Her beautiful purplish fur reflects the light gleaming off the water's edge, and she drifts off into a little nap. You sit petting her and admire how the reddish-brown of her coat must camoflague her well and make her a superb hunter. Her pupil-less eyes flicker, as she lazily twitches her two long indigo ears. Easily you can see she does not see ou as a threat. You chuckle to yourself and stroke the lurif's luxurious fur.

As you continue to marvel at the lurif, another one stealthily pads up to greet you. It is smaller and more lean than the first. For a reason you don't quite know, you are not startled by its sudden presence. It sniffs your outstretched hand and calmly lies next to the first lurif, disregarding you completely. Unless of course when you pause from petting her- she then lifts her head up to see what excuse you have for stopping, and as you smile your hand drifts back to her fur, scratching and petting it.
