(these are Roger Waters talking to one of the sound crew - very humorous!!)
Comments/Highlights: This is a very cool combo of a complete concert from The Wall tour along with some tour rehearsal tracks!! The main show is an excellent audience show, one of the best older recordings I have heard. The sound quality really shines on this, all the instruments, as well as the background sounds, come through great! The mix is wonderful throughout which makes this recording as good as it is. There is a very, very slight static heard on occasion in the right channel, possibly at certain frequencies, but it can't really be heard unless you are wearing headphones and really listen for it. This is a show that really should be CRANKED though, that's for sure ;) The band puts on an incredible show and the audience really enjoys it! They are very polite and quiet during the show, but do give the show it's due and applaud the band alot at the appropriate moments :) They definitely give this show the great atmosphere it has! It's awesome to hear the complete "Wall" album played all the way through, especially with such nice sound quality. The intro announcement at the start is also replayed later in the show, but at alot slower speed which is very humorous!! Roger seems very into the show, and talks to the crowd about the giant "pig" during the intro to Run Like Hell ;) What else can I say but that this is a wonderful show, really a MUST HAVE and a real nice addition to the collection!!!!
The tour rehearsals are from a few weeks previous to the main show,
it's basically a practice session to get the whole show set up for the
tour. It seems almost to be like a "mixing board" recording (although
it could just be recorded from someone's tape recorder that was there).
The sound comes across pretty good, sometimes a bit distant. The
mix also seems to change at times, an instrument will be low in the mix,
then suddenly get very up front, especially the guitar. The drums and bass
can be a bit muddy and hard to hear throughout, but the vocals usually
come through nice. It is a pretty interesting recording of
the band practicing, you can hear them talking about the arrangements and
stuff. There's also some very humorous moments where Roger Waters
is going on and on about click tracks and telling the people "building
the wall" that they "must stop" when the band stops and
that they're "cheating" if they don't ;) He also is singing
at one point and sings something like "whatever the words are"...hehe
It's not going to win any awards for sound quality, but is still very listenable
and also real cool!!! :)
