Pinewood derby workshop
All year long the boys wait in anticipation of race day. Each boy is given an official BSA pinewood derby car kit. Now these cars don't look like much in the box, in fact it's just a block of wood when they start out. But, add a couple of leaders to organize and a couple of Boy Scouts from our Troop and you have magic!
Saturday, March 23rd we hosted our first annual Pinewood Derby workshop. Our leaders decided that every boy should have the opportunity to make the most awesome car even if they don't have access to tools at home. So, we gathered a few leaders, a scroll saw, some sandpaper, some paint, two boy scouts and some 'weights' and had an event. And what an event it was! We had some of the most awesome looking cars turned out at this workshop!
Race day is April 20th at 1:00pm sharp - doors close for registration and weigh in at 12:45pm.
We've posted some photo's for you all to share in our workshop. We're very proud of the leadership and the boy scouts who were there to help! Without you, some of these kids might not have even made the cars!
