On March 9, 2002 the Miami
Seaquarium held their first ever BOY SCOUT OVERNIGHT and
our pack was in attendance. After months of careful planning and coordinating
the date
finally arrived! However, the photo's posted here are just some glimpses of the
group
we were in as we had 46 people in attendance from our pack and they had to split
us
into a group of 30 and a group of 16. We will post the other group photo's when
we receive them from the other attendees! The boys had a GREAT time! A big thank
you goes out to the Staff at the Seaquarium in the education department! You did
a great job!
Here you see Lolita performing. This whale has been there for something like 27 years and they're building her a new tank!
Tent city on the left. We were right on the water and it was gorgeous! On the right you see one of the staff trying to bring a little light on the subject for the group photo's
Because our group was too large, we had to split into two groups. On the right you see the larger of the two groups getting their photo taken. On the left Vrajen and Corey feed the fish!
Each group had different animal encounters scheduled. Ours included feeding the manatee. All the boys rushed to get in line to feed them and Brie our tour guide couldn't get them to come to the surface to eat. All the rushing didn't pay off - however those in the back of the line got to feed and touch the manatee because they came to the surface at the end of the encounter. It doesn't always pay to rush to the front of the line as some found out (my son in particular)!
All in all the overnighter was great. There are a few things they can improve upon but it definitely rated an 'A' with us!
