Czestochowa - Jasna Gora

Overlooking the city of Czestochowa is the monastic complex of Jasna Gora comprising the Basilica of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary and the monastery of the Pauline Monks.
The Lubomirski Gate, adorned with a statue of St. Michael the Archangel, is the first of four gated archways the pilgrim passes through to the Basilica.
A lofty belltower rises 340 feet heavenward.
The Basilica, with its ornate, baroque frescos and bas-reliefs, dates from the 17th century.
The heart of Jasna Gora is the gothic Lady Chapel wherein is enshrined the Miraculous Icon of Our Lady of Czestochowa.
It is here that countless prayers are offered through the intercession of the Mother of God.
