SHERIFF BRUNNER

THE STAGES OF GRIEF

The sheriff of Stephens County jail, wherein lies 'The Rock', has apparently gotten stuck in the second stage of grief.  That would be her private business except, if the many witnesses can be believed, she is using the authority vested in her in a most unprofessional and biased manner. To do a good job anywhere, you have to separate private emotions from professional life.

THE SHERIFF'S STORY

9-11-04

This letter is addressed to Sheriff Brunner:

I know you are reading the information on this website.  If you weren't, you wouldn't be having your flunkies try to protect you.  You never could speak for yourself.  Every time anyone tries to talk to you about the problems in the jail, they hear your sob story about your husband, or they get shoved off to Bob Hill.

I for one am sick of hearing about your husband.  Yes, if the story you tell is true, it is a horrible deal.  But you need to quit blaming everyone else for your situation.  Was your husband denied medical treatment for his injuries?  No, and that probably saved his life.  Would you not have fought as hard as I have  if he had been denied medical treatment?  If you found out that he was not getting medical treatment for his current needs, would you not fight to get him that medical treatment?  What makes you any different than us?

We have loved ones in your care who have not been convicted of a crime, yet you deny them access to medical treatment.  Why is every inmate in your jail being punished for what happened to your husband?  Do you hold on to so much hate that you enjoy doing these things?

Have you ever received counseling for your issues?  I think you may need some anger management counseling.  For someone to hold that much hate and hostility towards other people is not healthy.  Why is it that you feel it necessary to tell everyone you meet about your husband?  Is it a sympathy ploy or do you have unresolved issues you need to work on? You would probably benefit from a little help.

My friend came to you to talk about health problems with her loved one in the jail.  Instead of dealing with her problems, she had to endure your story about your husband.  What does your husband have to do with the fact that her loved one is not getting his medication?

When I was in your jail, some of the women inmates tried talking to you about some problems with medications.  We all had to endure your story again.  What does your husband have to do with inmates getting medications?

This story is your answer to everything:  Just tell the story so everyone will feel sorry for you and forget their complaints.  Well, not anymore.  The story is old and worn out.  Nobody feels sorry for you.  So now how about a REAL answer?  Quit hiding in the shadow of that position.  Stand up and do the job you asked to do.  Nobody expects an overnight fix.  We don't expect everything  to be perfect, but what is the problem with trying to fix these situations?

My husband is in your care.  He has been denied medical treatment and medications.  Now he is looking at possibly being totally deaf due to your negligence.  Do you expect me to just site back and not fight for him?  The doctor told him a year ago that with proper medication and treatment, he should be able to make it another 10 years before losing his hearing.  But your treatment of him probably took away 9 years.  My husband is a jerk at times, but I do care about him just as you care about your husband.

You had no right to punish him by denying medical care.  When did you become the judge, jury and executioner?  Last time I looked that was not in your job description.

You better pray that he starts getting proper care to try to prevent the deafness.  And I hope you're up to paying the bills, because the treatment that is required to try to save his hearing is going to run you about $22,000.  At least that was what it cost last time.  I'm sure this time it will cost more due to the fact that you let him sit and suffer this long with no treatment.

Tuesday, September 14, 2004 Re: Sheriff Bruner

I don't know what this means but I just found out that the Court House is closing on Thursday.  Seems that Most of its occupants are going to some meeting in the City (Oklahoma City)..  As far as I can tell this has never happened before.  Not to the extent that so many of them will be going that the court house will have to close. My mind is coming up with all kinds of theories.

Overheard:  Sheriff Bruner and another individual speaking on Friday that they had to get their stories straight for the Thursday meeting.

On Sunday Sheriff Bruner drove herself to the hospital because she was having a heart attack.  Monday she was transported to the Lawton Hospital. I was thinking of sending her a dozen Oleanders from the Oklahoma Chapter of Inmate Watch USA.

I just don't like it, you hear of this meeting, and beforehand this Sheriff has a Heart Attack, wouldn't this mean she would have good reason NOT to HAVE to show up?  And the Courthouse closing for one day? Things that make you go Hmmm!

9/14/04 :

Is there any way to find out what the meeting is about? Is it open to the public?

Ask - the most they can say is no. Does anyone know if Oklahoma has an open policy law?

I have heard two reasons for the meeting on Thursday. One is it's a budget meeting and that makes no sense.  The other is something a court advocate told me about today .... She said that last week the FBI came into the jail and spent most of the day in the jail and then without word got on the elevator and went straight into the D.A.'s office and stayed until way after hours.  They then left the D.A.'s office carrying many boxes with them.  This confirms the rumors of them going to the city to answer to the FBI.  I am crossing my fingers.   That could mean that Deputy Jeff Price knew this when he responded to us.

What is an open law?

Yes most states have open statues on open law, and all public records, but of course as a way of making funds for a county, they charge you!

I talked about PRISONER A. I told the FBI and I told the Channel 7 news and still no answer.

Day by day this gets more nuts, if this keeps up past Friday I'm going to email just about every Government Office there is. This is out of hand.

If there are different departments whom hear different things this will cause more of a disturbance, and this Sheriff having a heart attack, as well Guards being fired, and this meeting, things that make you go HMMMM?
