Other:
Our first Lipizzan, Tina couldn't believe her eyes when she spotted the
Piber brand on his hip. Adopting the forlorn little colt was a no-brainer. Upon arriving back at the farm, Tina set to work; it didn't take long to confirm her suspicions: bred at Piber, imported to a local farm, neglected due to owner's health issues, confiscated, then placed into a rescue.
Tina had just been reading about
a similar case and wasn't all that surprised to find that their bloodlines were almost as similar as their stories.
S. Juci will stay here; we plan to seek out an appropriate Baroque mate for him, but do not discount the possibility of his being used to improve the KSMH.
Interestingly, he is Siglavy top and bottom making him more Arab than Baroque, by DNA.
Depending on your mare his foals may be eligible for the following registries (listing not comprehensive):
Lipizzan, Gaited Baroque (x any Gaited breed, foal must gait), Haute Cheval (x Friesian)
*Note that all of his Baroque colts should bear the Siglavy dynastic prenom (especially the Lippys).
Genetic Notes:
Being a Grey means he has an increased risk of developing melanomas as he ages.
Generally these tumors are benign, though in rare cases malignancy has been known to occur.
OOC: The modern Lipizzan is best known for it's "White" (Grey) representatives, but the breed has been known to come in a wide range of colors including Cream and Pinto. Duke was generated by the game and seeded to the in game "Animal Shelter" where he was adopted by Tina. He generated as a homozygous Grey though with a red mane and tail; I altered his base coat to sorrel and added the brands at shoulder and thigh (brands made by Arian Equine and positioned per IRL Registry standards).

About the Lipizzan (Breed dynasties):
Classical Stallion SIGLAVY
Darley Arabian, Byerly Turk, Godolphin Barb. The ancestors of the thoroughbred. The bloodlines of the Arab. The principle genetic material to infuse into the Lipizzaner if outside blood was to be added. Several Arab sires were tried but only one asserted himself within the breed.
So they chose Prince Schwarzenberg's imported Arab stallion - Siglavy. This fiery little stallion only measured 14.3.hands. He was born in 1810 and he arrived at Lipizza in 1816. His diminutive size and dainty body aroused quite a lot of talk among the stable hands and riders who were used to working with the much larger Spanish blooded stallions and mares.
He proved his worth and went on to be the founder stallion of the Siglavy line.
Hungarian Mare 2038 NEAPOLITANO JUCI
The mare 56 Siglavy Bagdady, 1905 from Babolna, was the founder mare of this line. Actually an Arabian line. Today this line exists in Szilvasvarad and Bana.
The mostly given names of this line are Julcsa and Juci.
