(how we knew we were the Talentsuckers) The jams and tune swaps are part of festlife. We have musicians at our campsite and they share tunes, stories and musical tips. They nap a lot. They move through the campsite at night like a band of wandering musical gypsies. Which brings me, in a roundabout way, to the genesis of the Talentsuckers.
Those of us who are not musicians would go out to find the music after our musicians went off to wander. And it all began as a prickle of awareness; we'd no sooner get to a really hopping jam where everyone was playing with high energy, and the tune would end, musicians would get up and wander around to chat and obtain refreshments, and we'd be standing there talking amongst ourselves. Co-incidence, we tried to tell ourselves for several years. But after about a decade of walking up to jam after jam where the music would fizzle in our presence, we decided to recognize and name the force:
TALENTSUCKERS!
These folks are dangerous!
Coming soon to a campfire near you.....
Jann jammin' at the campsite
John and friends jammin'
Mara plays tunes in the afternoon
Mara is one of our musical kids. We knew all that sucked up talent had to come out somewhere!?!
