PAR
PAR-PPI (Precision Approach Radar Planned Position Indicator)
We operated the PAR and we looked at the PPI.

We talked every five seconds, giving redundant instructions, if necessary. This assures that the pilot and controller do not lose contact because if they do or if the aircraft gets below the bottom line of the el-screen, we direct a go-around.

These instructions and the tool of this radar, were designed as the last word in accurate homing for an aircraft, even if they have lost every navigation instrument, with only a magnetic compass and radio, for communication, left to them. With everything working we could get the aircraft to a point 70 meters above and short of the runway, ready to rotate!    Look at the ASR Display
