A copy of the Naval Chronicles for the British Royal Navy, Volumes 1 to 6, is held at the Auckland Museum Library, Auckland, New Zealand and also the National Library of New Zealand in Wellington.

The Chronicles included notices of births, marriages and deaths. Unfortunately only a few of the notices have dates of the actual event. The volume number gives an approximate indication of when the marriage, birth or death took place.

The Naval Chronicles also include information about ships, battles, promotions, awards, obituaries and retirements. It can often be worthwhile taking a look at these books if you had a family member who was an officer in the Royal Navy during this period.

A hard copy of the birth, marriage and death notices that appeared in the Naval Chronicles for 1799, 1800 and 1801 can be purchased for NZ$25 if posted to a New Zealand and NZ$30 if posted to anywhere else in the world.
