B. Modern Tunbridgeware. Cost $20 plus postage

68x13x7

C. Ebony with two pewter rivets. Cost $24 plus postage.

Very slight imperfection on surface of  some rivets.

This is a discount price. For ebony shuttles I start with a block of wood and cut the veneers from it.  Each cut I make wastes more wood than I put into the shuttle!  There are three laminated veneers of wood on each half of the shuttle.

D. Ebano. Cost $15 plus postage

44x13x5

E. Ash with ebony herring bone inlay. Cost $20 plus postage

77x24x8

I. "Swedish" style  Cost $12 plus postage.

Carved from the solid after a design I saw in a book.  More of an interesting shuttle than a practical shuttle, though some have used it for bead tatting.  Personally I think it is one for your "collection".  I have included a side view for your interest.

50x13x9

J. Tulip wood Cost $15 plus postage

Carved from the solid wood.

58x13x13

K. Pua shell (Abilone) (Laminate)  Cost. $25 plus postage

70x17x9

I make my shuttles in a similar manner to those of David Smith, who very generously shared with me his technique; i.e. three VERY thin veneers of wood laminated together form the shells.  All my shuttles are made "by eye".  I make no attempt to standardise in shape or size, though I do use basically similar molds to shape the shells.

I also make "Tartan" shuttles and solid Mother of Pearl shuttles (MoP is very expensive I am afraid, about $40 US)

I  make sets of Ebony shuttles with a pewter rivet/s together with a bone handled fine-size hook. (About $40 the set)

Your interest in any of these special shuttles will influence the direction of my making. (See next paragraph for explanation)

I DO NOT take orders.  I am retired and like many of you, have had my share of stress in my work life .  I am totally disorganised and procrastinate to a great extent.  Because of this I do not want to stress myself out with orders, besides which I do not want to spend a lot of my time making shuttles (I should be so lucky to have so many orders! :)  )  I have rather selfishly decided that I will only make shuttles when I feel like it, and when I have some for sale I will put them on the web or on Ebay.

Do have a look at my web site though because of a long term and ongoing illness I have prevailed upon friends to host some of my pages and I have not spent a lot of time doing the things I aught to have done to my web site.  At the moment I am feeling well and I hope it continues that way.
