the weeks of fasting before Easter there were no regular Sunday
dances on the town square, so teenage girls went out of the
village onto a meadow or hillside to run and sing. Called "buenek"
in Thrace, in Dobrudzha in northeast Bulgaria this kind of "entertainment"
is called "danets".
