I have always danced. I started at age 7 dancing in the school backyard while living in Israel in 1948. When we came to this country, in 1956, I continued with Israeli folkdancing, but I was slowly introduced to the Balkan dances.

Then one day in June 1985, Micki Long invited me to join the Bosilek Dance Ensemble. I liked it right away and Cathie had me perform after only three rehearsals.

Oh what joy it was to learn to do the Shopsko step properly and the Ruchenitsa! The pleasure of working with Cathie and to study with Iliana!

There is nothing like the anticipation of an upcoming performance, the nervousness, the costumes that don't fit sometimes, the makeup, the "high" of performing, and the jokes afterward about the silly mistakes that we made. I do enjoy the friendships among the Bosilek dancers and nobody can run a dance troupe like Cathie!

I think I will always dance .... until I have to stop.
